Knotty Knotty
She was new at this hiking in the woods and camping thing. Her last boyfriend was always staring at his computer, so he didn't go anywhere. The thought came that maybe she could get lost in the woods and find herself. So she grabbed a big bag she took to the beach usually and packed a lunch and a blanket to sit on. Now an hour later she was near the top of the mountain where rocks gave a view to the park below.
So Jane flipped the blanket across the boulder and started spreading out her picnic goodies. Before long she heard another hiker, and turned to be sure he knew she saw him. No sense in being careless, all alone on this hill. Mike introduced himself, in fact, he barked it out, "Mike, that's me, so you know who is sharing your picnic spot. And you are?" She told him her name and asked him why he thought she would share?
"Well, I'm a Boy Scout, or was, and a trustworthy helpful friendly kind of guy, so I hoped you would be too." Jane said she never was a Boy Scout or Girl Scout either, totally new at this hiking in the woods thing. But yes, you can share my picnic spot, in fact, I'll not yell if you sit on the blanket.
Mike thanked her and sat on the edge but close enough, it wasn't a big blanket. She offered to share her food if he was that hungry. He said he would take her up on that, and trade her some Boy Scout skills she might find helpful.
Her lunch was good and she had brought a lot, what was she thinking, it was just her, but she had packed enough for two. Mike dug in and enjoyed it, thanking her between mouthfuls. She couldn't help but notice how he chewed and the muscles in his jaw worked. Jane admired how the muscles on his arms stood out like cords too.
Jane asked him what sort of things Boy Scouts had taught him, how to build a fire, pitch a tent, tie knots? "Yes, all that," he said, "I'm especially good at knots, here I'll show you."
At that he brought out a cord from his pack and tied it around her ankle which was beside him.
