My younger daughter, a pharmacist saw my leg Tuesday night and insisted I go to the ER at the hospital as the vein was hot an swollen, so I went to Wyong Hospital ER, waited 3 hours while every living little snot-box kid came in for asthma treatment, as it was a cold night, then eventually saw a doctor then another two who all decided it was celulitis and infected rather than a clot. The doctor insisted on doing the cannula himself and in the next forty minutes, I had 2 grams of antibiotic and sent home. Last night, I complained about the discomfort of the canula, so he injected it direct from the capsule and it was as thick as treacle which enlarged the vein; it only lasted two or three minutes, but was quite uncomfortable in fact I couldn't stop saying "Öh fuck!". Tonight I asked for a local anaesthetic before the needle, but the doctor decided to go back to the cannula, so he tried twice without success and finally called the head nurse who cooly slipped the cannula in so well, then set up the drip, she ordered roast beef and veges for dinner for me and in ten minutes I was done and out, then I ate the mmeal and a piss cold cup of coffee and came home with the cannula still in my hand (the back of the hand actually) all taped up for the Community Nurse tomorrow. So at the moment, I cant shower or get the cannula wet but since the attachment is in my left hand, I will need too sleep on the right side and I masturbate with the right hand, so at the moment, I am still living like a monk. But the vein is getting better, I had a doppler today and was told about a third of my veins in the leg are blocked, so I will probably still need to have them stripped. |
