To answer a question, no, the party was not worth the pain of wearing high heels. I can think of few things that would be worth that kind of pain
On a side note, some people's prejudice really angers me. At the party, there were several colleagues, from a small band of friend-co-workers who often do things together.
One of those colleagues proceeded to lecture me about how I should train for my hiking holidays to be able to keep up with BF. Meddlesome, but fine. But then she goes, in the most condescending tone, "I mean, do you even get any exercise during the year?" Apparently in her mind, fat people don't exercise. I felt like slapping her.
She's the same person who, a while ago, was incredibly surprised when I told her I loved vegetables, including Brussels sprouts. "oh really, you didn't seem like the type." Because the 'type' to like vegetables = skinny? Made my blood boil, and she doesn't even realise it...
