Computer fixers
Do any of these programmes that are constantly popping up on the computer actually work? They say they will make it run faster. clear all unwanted rubbish off & resolve any other problems you may have.

some can?

some will scan for problems, then provide a list of said problems, and ask for $ for the full version to clean said problems? [sometimes those problems seem like false positives?][some of the minor bits are fixed in the free version]

those play on ones mind? to solicit $

I use 2 free versions, one is good, the other better, one has a $ version, that is more of a donation, the other just wont clean the registry without the $ version, but the other one cleans the registry for free, so the combination works.

my opinion? .... if they SHOVE it in your face, keep clear. a good program will get werd of mouth advertising. happydance

oh, windows has it's own junk roundup, already built right in, as do most browsers ...

be they manual, and individual, non the less they are still there.

the other programs just combine everything into a one program fix all.

Hi
I am getting pop ups from companies such as PC Keeper & reimage & repair. I have Adaware & Spybot as well as a virus programme. None of them stop these ads.

Stay away from anything that pops up on your computer screen. The only thing you need is malwarebytes (free) and a good antivirus. If you go with the the premium version of malwarebytes the stock Windows defender is fine. If you keep getting random pop ups you may already have maleware embedded and should run malwarebytes and get rid of what it finds.

I've got reimage.

Still get nasty popups from others though.

Even voice alerts to phone a certain number (found to be a call centre in India how wants access to your desk top display etc.

They threaten you saying that you have a virus.

Your security is threatened etc.

What can happen is the security programmes conflict with eachother.
Best not to download more than one.
