One (minor) reason I'm an insomniac, is that I love the night: the dark is mysterious with promise, generally quiet, and still in a magical way. Instead of being a time to sleep, it's a time to recall one's childhood sense of awe and the infinite possibilities of life. I pay for it, of course, the next day.
