XP might have been targeted but I noticed something in Win 10

You only get it from opening emails, mate. Just don't open emails unless you know who they are from.

You can get it from surfing porn as well actually. But ransomware is pretty easy to get rid of. It will sometimes just lock your browser. But to get around this just hit CTRL - ALT - DELETE at the same time and then open up Taskmanager. In taskmanager simply select your internet browser and click END TASK. That will do it. Then run viruses scans if you want. You will want ro run 4 virus scans....

Your main virus scan (I use AVAST Free)

Malawarebytes (That's also free to use)

Hitman Pro (Also free to use and standalone. This detects other types of viruses and cirses leftovers that other scanners don't)

ADWCleaner (Also free to use and detects virses and potential virses, also standalone)

These 4 viruses scanners are all you will ever need to deep clean your computer and catch anything on there and totally remove it.

If you get ransomware that can't be solved by the method above, then simply switch your computer off via the power button and then boot it in safe mode and then run those virses scanners mentioned above.

If someone dies as a result of NHS computers being targeted, will the hackers be charged with murder? At the very least it would be manslaughter. Hopefully, of course, this won't happen but it's a possibility.

This only goes to show that many NHS Hospitals are trying to save money in any way they can by continuing to have systems still working on Windows XP and perhaps no security updates for years ?

Even opening email attachments from people you know can be a risk if their email accounts have been hacked. If you are not expecting an attachment from them, ask them before you open it, or use a code word or phrase when attachments are sent, but not as part of the signature.

They still provide windows xp updates for businesses, just not the general public.

The current world wide attack iwas said to be even more intense, Howevever it now seems to be mostly under control.

Do notice how they are using Bitcoin.

This is a very very dangerous method of currency and needs to be stopped.

Your computer can get infected even if you visit a website that has weak security, so be careful where you thread.

If you get infected, the best thing to do is to wipe your machine and reinstall the os and other programs. Be sure to keep your important files backed up.

Plus of course, do not leave your backup drive plugged permanently into your computer or the backup files could be infected too.
