BLOCKING
In Status, there seems to be an increasing number of members blocking each other.

This cannot be good for the smooth open running of the site

To reduce over blocking....
1) Reduce the level of highlighting the service.
2) Make Blocking Time Sensitive. Perhaps running for a month before having to be renewed if required by the member.

I agree Raven.. I hate this mania for completely isolating those who don't fit into our canons, which only serves to fragment communities, to make us lose the desire and effort to be unite and try to understand even those who think differently from us . The enthusiasm with which this new feature was welcomed disappointed me..

Formerly you could block everything BUT the pics, and the thumbnails were the ONLY thing I wanted blocked. So I can now not see things I don’t like while still seeing all the other interactions which is fine. It’s put a dent in the site for sure with the wholesale pushing of that button. And it leaves the blockee wondering what they did in some cases. Ahhhh, the Internet…

It's quite simple.. if you don't want to BE blocked, change how you interact with people. If you ARE blocked, live with it you brought it on yourself! When I block someone it's because they have hit my tolerance level and I don't want to see or hear from them and there is no way in hell that I want to have to keep re-doing it.

If people are harassing your status, keep doing things over and over despite you politely asking them not to?
if you like to chose when to see certain pics in status, because you can chose to see them in photo gallery anytime you like to
then people should be free to
if you dont agree with some people why shouldnt you be able to block them??
most people block for a reason
btw I AM blocked by people, but i dont have anyone blocked (for now)

Are there people in your real life community that you don't like/don't talk to/don't interact with/ignore for some reason? The NN community is no different. That's all that blocking is - you're not stopping them from interacting with anybody else, just making your own life more comfortable. 2c 2c

What I'm suggesting is that it is becoming normal to just switch off people that you don't like.
A status that becomes full of "blanks" could become a site for PM's only even.
That means that status no longer exists as a public medium...

I'm happy because now I don't have to see fat old men stick stupid things up their stinking asshole.
I'm sad because now I can't see MissAshlee's make body anymore.

1) I don't think I've ever been blocked and I don't think I've ever done anything to deserve it, and I will never block anyone.
2) I strongly believe in equal justice for all within a community. What is the purpose of the "BLOCK" function if the "REPORT" function already exists? "REPORT" serves to ensure that bad actions are punished, for the benefit of the whole community, not just the injured party.

Then there are two possibilities.
Either the "report" function doesn't work and so we use the "block" function to take the law into our own hands (I can accept this version but it implies that people who cause harm to the community are not cleaned up) OR the "report" function does works and the "block" is used to settle divergences of opinion and dislikes.. HENCE MY POST ABOVE.

but hey.. I'm also ok with your opinion.. please don't block me, lol

(I know, Arti, I once saw an id**t treating you badly and I reported him.. however I want that id**t kicked out of this lovely community.. not that only those who saw it can block it, and he can continue to treat other people badly)

If I don't want to see a programme on TV, I don't watch it.
If I don't want to read a certain newspaper, I don't buy it.
If I don't want to see a person's statuses, I block them.
What's the problem?

well ...actually no problems at all.
If you think that blocking people is the same as not reading a newspaper then we were just talking about different things

Why should I have to look away when I can choose not to see it in the first place. You choose what you want to see and I'll choose what I want to see, then we are all happy.

Ignoring comments is easy, but some thumbnails are simply disturbing. The new block feature is brilliant because you have options to block ONLY pics. It would be a shame if all interactions were cut off, it will be to the detriment of the site and the community. Can’t we all just get along? 😁

Why do I use the improved block system here in NN? Because I can, I use it to not see content from people I don't like, get along with, and i'm sure they have me blocked for the same reason. I use it to not see pics that revolt me, any social media site such as NN have a similar blocking function, rightly so. Does the new block system impact life here? NO. Status is my hang out place, by having my blocks in place makes NN a better experience for me. There has been less drama in status since NN implemented the new system, that can only be a good thing! 2c

I'm truly happy if this tool is making your life on NN better but please understand that someone else can have a different opinion. I'm totally ok with reporting and punishing bad behaviours but I don't like a filtered reality.

I understand that the majority loves filtering out and shape the world as their likeness and NN gave you a tool for that. I love diversity, strangeness and also the freedom to look away or argue.. keeps my brain active in a way
I would prefer a community not filtered. that's it. My humble opinion..

..I think I have a fetish for realism

So many have different points of view however when we join a Nude Porn Site,
we should keep to the main theme.
Many a time, non-nude spin offs have been tried, but they simply don't work.
There needs to be a sense of keeping to the theme of the site.
While expanding, of course, to other subjects,to be here, one must accept the main theme.

No Ravers. Blocking somebody doesn't make their status full of "blanks". It means that YOU can't see them because YOU don't want to see them. Their posts are still visible in everybody else's feed.

I still think that if site is for everyone who likes the basic theme, the invitation to block someone is far too highlighted, to the point that it almost invites members to block each other, even just for fun.

Why would I want to carry on seeing posts from people that annoy me when I don't have to? Equally those that I annoy can hide my posts and I'm perfectly okay with that.

I still base this subject as if all your doing it, you block,.yourself and "Blinker" and sever yourself from the mainstream flow.

I block people on the basis of... I don't want to see them, anything they post, anything they say, any pics they post, I'm very comfortable with that. It isn't cutting myself off, it's cutting them off, goodbye.

She blocked me a couple months ago for simply me asking what one of her pictures meant in status. Was asking a genuine question.

I wonder how many members have looked at status without logging in.
One might see posts that you cannot see when you log in.

This is site fragmentation.

When we create a thread, we can edit it.
That's good.
That's all that should be needed.

As for the site at large. I fear that blocking plus fragmentation at large, spreads the hub base too thinly...

Perhaps another issue.

Should a member be told that someone has blocked them ?

Honestly not really, I seem to find out eventually anyway. People I never even spoke to, find out I'm blocked.

Blocking
I did it quite a while ago, but you’re welcome for the photo unblock, RC. I didn’t think you’d care so much tbh.

As for anyone else, well. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The block feature has been odd for me. Finding out people have blocked our account for no apparent reason…members we have interacted with for literally years with no animosity, no problems I’m aware of. If offense was given I’d love to know what it was and apologize but now people just push the block button. It’s made for disjointed reading for sure! Oh well. Can’t please everyone. Um, please MissAshlee don’t block us! Everyone have a nice day. 😁
