depotguy's blog post - I think it's here!

Saturday, August 27, 2005, 12:49:23 PM
On a walk last night I smelled smoke. If you live in an area where people heat with wood, you develop the ability to tell the type of tree by its scent, this was oak. Autumn is when "somethings burning" changes to "someone has a fire".

cooler nites means more campfires in the fire pit out back..woohoo. Nothing like sweet apple or pungent hickory thrown on to whet everyones appetite for a finely roasted hot dog or soft, sweet smore....Love it but hate 3rd shift which steals my weeknights...sigh...I'm so glad you're blogging, my friend. It was a nice, welcome sight.

Living in a concrete jungle, I miss that. Thanks for the reminder.

I am a firm believer in Autumn, and I await our warm weather. Lucky.

i love the smell of a good wood fire..and not the type of fire that engulfs your house! But after cutting about 20 cords of wood for winter in the Colorado mountains and then still running out, we aren't much in the wood cutting mode anymore. We got 'burned' out..lol...
