If you know me I am a "music junkie" as bigtitter86 puts it. Some of you may of heard I was at a concert this weekend. It is a small world out there. After I arrived in town, I went over to the venue to check it out, parking, when do doors open ect.I strike up a conversation with a guy working there. After awhile I mention where I grew up. Low and behold this guy grew up in the neighboring community of my childhood. He even married someone from my high school. If that wasnt enough I met a guy at the concert (referred to in ju's blog) That I had met at a previous concert in Toronto that juicy and I went to. The concert in question was Burton Cummings. Some people have told me I have an addiction to seeing him as I have seen him 5 times within the last three years. This guy like me and several other "faithful" followers attend many of the shows.I also ran into 4 fans that were at the show near my home. I also got to meet one of my online "friends" from another website. My one friend was lucky enough to have tickets in the front row. Towards the end of the concert several of the faithful gathered close to the stage. After the show the local rock station was having an "after party" at the hotel just down the street. We mingled around the stage for about 15 minutes before leaving, I was hoping to get some autographs on my ticket which didnt happen. After the show I was able to get one of the set lists. So it was time to head to the party. I had gone to my car and left my ticket there but brought the setlist for show off and tell as I call it. When I got there, there was a couple at the table that was like "hi, 2k" and all I could say was "excuse me, do I know you" It turns out they were siting behind me at the concert near my home last summer. It really is a small world. I didnt think much of it but I had gotten up to use the restroom and noticed this one guy was "taking a long time". Well I'm not gonna wait several minutes, I'll just find the one in the lobby. I walk past the front desk and I see the guitarist and percussionist.I returned to the table and told everyone the band was up front, we all take off for the front desk. I did get my autographs and enjoyed talking to the band before they boarded their bus for toronto. It was just a fantastic night of rock and roll, now that I am closer to the members of the band I feel "almost famous" |
