I haven't done much swimming in the past few years. Even though I live in an apartment with a pool I just don't seem to find the time to go. I recently went on a business trip and was staying in a resort so, not being particularly body shy, I bought a new pair of speedos to wear to the pool.
When I got to the pool I was astonished to see the current trend in male swim wear to be long baggy bathing suits that sometimes hang down to the knees! First of all, how can anyone swim in those? I'd think they would really drag in the water. Secondly, they completely hide the male form in all that baggy cloth.
I caused quite a stir by being the only person wearing a suit that clearly showed off my male curves. As the week progressed I noticed adults would surreptitiously glance at me, teens would whisper to each other and children would stare outright. Apparently no one is used to seeing the male figure any more. One girl, I'm guessing she was about 16, yelled out "Oh my God" and started giggling to her other three friends as the group of them passed me at a distance.
Far from being embarrassed by such scrutiny, I was enjoying the attention. Women's suites, whether one-piece, bikini or thong, are still form fitting, showing off their figures. I feel the male figure is equally worth displaying so I'm going to continue to wear my speedo even if it flies in the face of current fashion.
