It's nearly Friday.... isn't it?

I have a weekend of entertaining friends and watching rugby in the local pub. My pub is so local it is literally across the street.

I don't really watch rugby that often, though in Wales it is almost compulsory to watch from birth. We are generally not that good at it, but are better at the moment, so may be a good day - who knows!

What worries me is that kick off is at 1pm and people tend to start drinking around noon. Wales is a nation of hard drinkers. We are very good at it - better than we are at rugby probably.

Now I know that the UK is pretty famous for its binge drinking these days - but the older I get, the more rubbish I seem to get at drinking alcohol. I have no doubt that the people I go with will be knocking it back and very successfully too. I will feel obliged to join in and probably be merry by 1.10!

I used to be quite good at drinking but, on this basis, by the time I am 50 I will be having an occasional sweet sherry or chocolate liquer and be feeling a bit giddy!
