This is about what I Like in the Animal Kingdom - I Love Hippo's. Real or Cartoony ones - a bit like George out of the tv program 'Rainbow" (in the UK is a kid's program)

The hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), or hippo, from the ancient Greek for "river horse" , is a large, mostly herbivorous mammal in sub-Saharan Africa, and one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae (the other is the Pygmy Hippopotamus.) After the elephant, the hippopotamus is the third largest land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl.
The hippopotamus is semi-aquatic, inhabiting rivers, lakes and mangrove swamps [3] where territorial bulls preside over a stretch of river and groups of 5 to 30 females and young. During the day they remain cool by staying in the water or mud; reproduction and childbirth both occur in water. They emerge at dusk to graze on grass. While hippopotamuses rest near each other in the water, grazing is a solitary activity and hippos are not territorial on land.

Despite their physical resemblance to pigs and other terrestrial even-toed ungulates, their closest living relatives are cetaceans (whales, porpoises, etc.) from which they diverged about 55 million years ago.[4] The common ancestor of whales and hippos split from other even-toed ungulates around 60 million years ago.[5] The earliest known hippopotamus fossils, belonging to the genus Kenyapotamus in Africa, date to around 16 million years ago.
The hippopotamus is recognizable by its barrel-shaped torso, enormous mouth and teeth, nearly hairless body, stubby legs and tremendous size. It is the third largest land mammal by weight (between 1½ and 3 tonnes), behind the white rhinoceros (1½ to 3½ tonnes) and the three species of elephant (3 to 9 tonnes). The hippopotamus is one of the largest quadrupeds (four legged mammals).[6] Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it can easily outrun a human. Hippos have been clocked at 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances. The hippopotamus is one of the most aggressive creatures in the world and is often regarded as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. There are an estimated 125,000 to 150,000 hippos throughout Sub-Saharan Africa; Zambia (40,000) and Tanzania (20,000–30,000) possess the largest populations.[1] They are still threatened by habitat loss and poaching for their meat and ivory canine teeth.

It has been a little while.

I have had my new glasses for a couple of weeks now, they seem to be ok - just got to get used to the bifocul's and then the lenses so that I can see the computer screen (they help) .. They are called PC Peekers - they stop you from getting a neck aches with the head bobbing trying to read the screen - website is : http://www.pcpeekers.com/

Anyway - back to me.

I have had for the past few weeks cloudy vision in my right eye - it seems as if someone has put a dirty thumbprint on your glasses and makes it difficult to see things. If I close my left eye all I can see is some light and maybe an outline of something but I can't see normally. It does not go away with rubbing your eye as if you have something in your eye. It gets worse as the day goes on.

Watching tv and reading is a nightmare!

I am going to see my optician again on Friday pm.

You know how it is if you have an inquisitive mind - so you have to check it out online.
Anyways apparently IF I do have MS then I possibly could of developed OPTIC NEURITIS (quite common) - means I could get my eyesight back to normal in time OR I could just go blind in that eye - BUT I will see what the optician says first before I panic too much.
