Firedancer69's blog post - Attack of the evil cheese!

My fellow Americans (let's face it, I'm mostly talking to you, but of course I would appreciate input from people all over the world.)
I truly believe that cheese is evil, and is going to destroy out country before anything else (except maybe global warming.)
I'm going to start at the beginning, 1.5-2 years ago I was listening to NPR on my radio driving home. There was a story on that was urging people to give up cheese, and I thought "NO, I love cheese!" I was overweight thought, and I thought I was eating healthy foods, I had never thought of cheese as an unhealthy food. Did you know that ONE serving size of cheese is equal to 2 playing dice. (I learned that at OMSI, lol Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.) I never realized I was consuming way over the moderate portions of cheese as I should have been. I decided to give up cheese for lent. People laughed at me, but in the first 3 weeks up giving it up, I lost 8 lbs. In fact, after not eating for so long, the first time I ate cheese again, I literally got sick after eating it. Giving up cheese also made me realize that we Americans put cheese on EVERYTHING! Sandwiches, soups, salads, pizza, shepherds pie, even bread. People thought I was absolutely crazy for giving it up, but I'm very happy I did. Now I will occasionally eat cheese, but I've learned to eat it in moderation. That is really my key point here, moderation. I could go on and on about this, but I won't bore you. Just remember 1 square inch of cheese has 8g saturated fat and not nearly as much protein as you would think.

Yep, cheese is evil. I love it, too. You're right about learning to eat it in moderation. That's true of any food. Master your cheese, don't let it master you. Having said that, I can't give it up. Have lost significant weight, though, by using a calorie counting app on my Iphone.

Well your first mistake was taking anything on MPR seriously.

quite often you can make a chinese person nauseous by asking them to sniff cheddar cheese. they never touch the stuff.

but... CHEESE! Cumming from Wisconsin this is hard news to take... I love cheese. As Benjamin Franklin once said (roughly): "All things in moderation, including moderation!"
