Today a girl asked me if a guy could find a girl physically attractive if they weren't his "physical type." I assumed that this was in some connection with the guy she was interested in that she had asked me about earlier, and who I thought was sending her hints back.
My opinion was yes, that it certainly is possible and does happen. I used to have a "physical type" I was into. After some experiences I finally just changed my "physical type" to: cute girls. Even though I preferred brunettes and redheads most of all, in the end a girl having blonde hair or say black hair, or was slightly shorter, didn't really matter. Yes, my "type" certainly would always catch my eye at first, but once I got to know certain girls, that "type" blended away and did not matter really. So I just started saying that my type was "cute girls."
I think of "physical type" as a shallow concept. Not that it's shallow to BE attracted to a certain type or to put value on physical attractiveness, but that if you're into a girl who is a blonde while you like redheads, it's actually very easy to overcome that fact. "Physical attraction" I don't think is completely linked to just looks - hence why I've been using quotation marks this whole time.
I call this the Mick Jagger Effect.
There are other factors - sense of humor, laugh, smile, etc - that add to who they are as a person, and that is a part of the physical attractiveness of a person - not just their bust size, curves or hair color... Plus there's always L'Oreal.
No one is perfect. No one will ever likely match every single check mark on your ideal (wo)man. I once asked the question of what you first noticed about a person. I'm interested in hearing what is your "physical type", along with what you actually find attractive about a person.
Here is mine.
Physical type or what turns my head at the mall as I pretend to look at a store display:
Red/Brunette, long hair, not short. Definitely notice a "fun", "laughfer's" or "happy" smile. Height - not taller than me(Says the second shortest kid out of the litter). Bust size, doesn't really matter although I'm not into fake or huge boobs. Nice legs and butt - definitely notice. Slimmer body type, not too skinny though.
What I find attractive or what's below the shallow "physical type" or what trumps it: Sense of humor. A "fun", "laughfer's" or "happy" smile. Witty banter. Goofyness. Smarts. A willingness to learn new things. An adventurous spirit. Kindness.
Ultimately - although it is late and I'm going brain dead, so my lists might change in the morning slightly

- my two lists have only one thing in common. While the first list will get me to look, so long as the person fills out some of the check marks on both or even just the majority of the second - I will find that person attractive, physical and otherwise.
Because at that point they stop being the "smoking hot redhead" or the "leggy black haired chick in the white dress" - they become Sandra, Lisa, Julie. They aren't just legs, ass or boobs - they are a full, interesting person that you want to spend time with.
I hope this blog makes sense when I read it in the morning...
