I’m a simple man, a truck drivin’ man
Drive hard all day, catch sleep when I can.
Living on coffee, ‘bacco, and chicken fried steaks
Stand on it son, and stay off them brakes.
I haul it cross country, or just across town

I’m no good for a woman, I’m never at home,
My true wife is asphalt and concrete, the interstate road.
When I see tracks through the trees marked by spray paint,
A quick prayer for his soul and thanks that me it ain’t.
Then it’s back to chasing the sun and the tumbleweed,
Bringing the goods, all the things that you need.
