Richie Rich007's blog post - Tilac and the stickmen

Tilac's blog once again has taken an interesting turn, it reminds me of a long road with distinctive corners and twists, forks and occassionally a dead end where we back track and try a different route, her last one mentions superstions and a place where it's considered good luck to wedge sticks under a rock. I started replying on her blog but decided this needed more than a few lines so I've opened it here on. The only metaphor I can think of is sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. However your analogy is a clever one. In England it's considered bad luck to walk under ladders, I'd say rather than superstition, this is good advise. The best religions give us guide lines to leading a healthier and more productive life, and personally that's as far as they go. On a lighter note I had a lovely weekend, we had a bank holiday yesterday and although the weather is still crap I had a lovely day. Bought some CDs, one of which I already have (why do I always do that) the best of the bunch is a Hacienda mix. The Hacienda was a famous club in Manchester that I had the pleasure of visiting a few times. FOOTBALL UPDATE: OK here is the news, 10 days to go and you can't move for plastic England flags it really makes us look so tacky. There is a friendly tonight, normally people wouldn't bother with these matches but I sense a collective zeal that will drive the audience figures. I'll watch too, well I have ironing that needs doing and my ironing lady is on holiday. Be good to each other, and for god sake someone send me a PM! |
