Wow, it is the third month of the year already! We are steaming towards the end of the first quarter!

A funny thing has happened to us, and would like to share it with you.

Every November our club organises what they call sunset bowls. It is very informal games of lawn bowls played from about 5.30pm untill it gets too dark every friday. For years my father in law, in his 70,s has been nagging us to come and play and we have always made an excuse for not going. I mean, bowls?? Hell that is old man's marbles, played by old farts who are in God's waiting room, so what would we be doing there?

Anyway in December, just to keep the peace we went to play... We walked onto the greens.. the music was pumping, beers were flowing, the dress was anything buit white! Well, the long and the short of it is that we are now members of the bowling section of the club too!

It is such an awesome sport! I was working towards the half iron man and have injured my knee quite badly so for now my cycling and running days are over, but bowls is offering me, and J, an opportunity to be competitive agin.

I know it sounds oh so colonial, but it really is enjoyable, and I would urge those of you who have the opportunity to try the game, to give it a shot... you may be very surprised.
