amancalledpony's blog post - For the Fourth of July in the US of A

As a kid I thought Symphony conductors were great. I loved Arthur Fiedler. When I got to be a grand parent I wanted to be him. I also thought John William was fantastic.
One song Fiedler loved was the 1812 Overture. Williams had an influence of John Phillip Sousa. The first video below is from the Bicentennial of the United States. The second is just because I love the song. *but I can't help singing "be kind to your web footed friends for a duck may be somebody's mother"*

Stars and Stripes Forever is undoubtedly the best march ever written. Sousa loved it so much he played it every chance he got. Thanks for the post pony.

More partial to American Patrol, but maybe that's because I listen to the Glenn Miller version.
Two songs that have, for decades, defined the Fourth of July for me.
Thanks Pony

Watching Popeye and shooting fireworks off sure go good with Stars and Stripes Forever. Along with a big bottle of Jack

ok, I admit to the silliness of the lyrics as well

Yeah, I'm with you and 12. Honestly, I can't remember the real lyrics (are there actually lyrics to this?) Happy 4th, pony!
