Today was the opening of Lolla in Chicago under a beautiful August sky and its 8 alternating stages of music. Started off the day with The Walkmen,Mavis Staples and American Bang (good rockers who love beer and topless women). Followed by the Drive-By Truckers and the New Pornographers (with an excellent Neko Case). We missed the pop fun of Devo (lots of fans in costume, or you could buy a helmet for $35!)The Black Keys rocked hard as always, followed by veteran reggae man, Jimmy Cliff. But the guys who stole the show in my opinion, stuck on a lil side stage, were Neon Trees. They rocked and Tyler Glen, the vocalist - keyboardist was great. What a personality! Check them out. Here is a youtube clip.
