Went to the Chicagoland British Car Festival today. Unfortunately my 1973 British racing green MGB-GT still sits sleeping in my "boathouse" waiting to be brought back to life. Hopefully by next year.
It was a fantastic 83 degree day and had a good turnout. All the classics, MG TC, A,B,C, Austin Healey,Rolls Royce,Triumph,Land Rover,Lotus,Sunbeam,DeLorean,Jaguar,Aston Martin, Mini Cooper and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.
The V8 conversions in the MGB's were inspiring and got the blood flowing. Mmmm, I could get rid of my lil 4 banger tractor engine and.....but $$$ rears it's ugly head - for now. Glad to see some of the owners had gotten rid of those hideous US mandated rubber bumpers and fitted the chrome ones. Much better!
Ah, the XKE Jaguars - talk about sleek and sexy. Oh, those V12's!Same goes for the Aston Martins. The Rolls/Bentley crowd had the premo spot (but of course!) under the trees, by the lake and were enjoying their own lunch buffet.(didn't hear any bubbly corks popping tho - geez - things must be tough all over!)
