depotguy's blog post - I'm so Sad

My state has decided that I am no longer deserving of the same rights and privileges as the rest of it's citizens.
Am I so naive to beleive that if people really understood what they were voting for they wouldn't do it?
When i ask people people if they beleive that we all should share in the same benefits of this society..they say "well, of course" And even if you add race, creed, sexual orientation. The answers still often..."of course"

So why would people vote to ammend a constitution to enforce discrimination?
I need a little help here. And please don't tell me they have to protect "marriage". If that was the mission we should do a better job with the marriages we have.

I don't know where I read it, a quote I like. "Is there so much love in the world that we can afford to scorn any of it?"

Still sad.

I think we are one step closer to the edge of the pendulum's last swing. Arizona, no matter how dire the rest, is something to hope for.

A truly glorious day it will be when a constitutional ammendment will not address an issue on the basis of equality regardless race, creed or sexual orientation but on a basis of "HUMAN" rights!
