Everything seems flat. Even though this is my dream camera with so many buttons I don't know what to do!

Before I spend the money I think I will take it for another test drive. Hell, it cost about as much as my first car did.

looks great too..but then i do magic with my graphics programs to make things stand out more...

Depth of field has more to do with the lens than the camera itself. I do not know enough about the technical aspects of it to help though. The resolution and color accuracy are the obviouls points to look for in the body, along with ease of use.
