It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth." -President Abraham Lincoln These words were meant to apply to Gettysburg, but to me they transcend their original intent and apply to the importance of liberty within the human spirit. Regardless of politics then or now they speak to the depth of importance liberty holds for anyone who would choose it as a way of life in America or anywhere. Bless everyone out there whom cherishes the liberty that resides in their spirit, the freedom that so many good folks lay their lives on the line for, thanks to the people who dedicate their life's work to ensuring that no one has to live under tyranny if they so choose. Today is Americas Birthday but to me it also represents the birthday of freedom as well. A time to honor everyone, everywhere who cherishes their freedom and that of their fellow man. Have a great Independence Day everyone, and as always make someone smile every chance you get ![]() |
