In my part of the world gray squirrels are ubiquitous, but I had never observed one with no tail until the late spring. I noticed the strangest thing in a nearby tree. This squirrel whom we have named Stubby was hopping around in the trees with what must have been its siblings. I watched for a while trying to process what I was seeing. It is quite an odd thing to see a little tail less squirrel. I would watch him hop and expect to see a tail land behind him for the longest time. It looks so strange, needless to say I have grown attached to and fascinated by him. Anyway I wanted to share the latest addition to our menagerie. He is quite hard to photograph as all of the squirrels in our yard stay on edged due to being chased by puppies...regularly lol
