I was talking to a wise woman tonight. Something she said blew me away. I mentioned "Why air out dirty laundry?" and she said "There is a reason why the clothesline is in the backyard"

Shubham Banerjee, a California seventh grader, is one of those kids whose heart and mind extend well beyond his own life and into the the wider world beyond. For a science fair project, he contemplated the issue of braille printers, which can cost upwards of $2,000, and decided there must be a better way. The better way he came up with involved the clever use of a $350 Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit along with a few bucks worth of hardware from Home Depot. He took a basic, preexisting pattern for a printer and reworked it with new software and hardware enhancements to print out letters in braille. The result is called the Braigo. The Braigo's controller is set up to scroll through the alphabet. You choose a letter and it prints it out with tactile bumps on a roll of calculator paper. The print head is actually a thumbtack, which Banerjee settled on after also testing a small drill bit and a mechanical pencil. The first prototype isn't terribly fast, but it proves the concept works. Banerjee is working on improvements that will allow it to print full pages of text.

Friday, February 21, 2014, 10:27:01 AM- Just a reminder to everyone....
This is the World Wide Web. There are millions of people on the internet. And with everyone on the internet you can't expect everyone to get along, everyone to like you and everyone to think your the most awesomest and stunning thing on the entire World Wide Web. It would be ridiculous to think that the World Wide Web is perfect. In my humble country opinion we make the choice of logging in or logging off. I understand this because I have learned a lot from the World Wide Web! There is no way anyone can or should expect millions of people to be nice and respectful. No one has the right to be hurtful....but that doesn't mean that they aren't always going to do it. Wish it wasn't so...but hey This is the World Wide Web!

Warning!!! This new project contains pictures of old wood. Not only old wood but abused old wood. So if you have a squeamish stomach turn away now!! LOL I had in mind to do a new project, but didn't want to go and get new wood. Y'all know that involves looking at a lot of wood, feeling it,looking closely at it maybe even finding some new oils to put on it.......... ya know what I mean. So I looked around the shop in my bin...... [img] [/img] Picked out some construction grade 2x6's. Planed them to a level surface to work with, and got started. Assemble all my needed tools of destruction.....check Make big pieces of wood smaller......check! Now I don't have all the requisite pictures of the process that I normally do.... So here is the finished project lol This is a garden sitting bench. Kind of like a meditation bench I believe. I "distressed" the wood surface to make it look older than it already was and look very used. I used a file and even a chain in the process LOL Then afterwards I used a dark stain to put over the bench so when I wiped it off the darker stain stayed in the distressed parts and only slightly stained the flat surfaces.I even used the file to lower different parts of the edges to make it look like years of someone rubbing against it and rubbing it smooth. And here it is outside the shop in the sun. Not quite to the garden yet A one day project that was fun to make. Thanks for looking

I'm like OHHMEEEGERDDD!! I hang up..obviously a butt dial again!! Oh I hope it was and not something else pushing the button....... is there such thing as a Dick Dial??? This guy has been a fixture in the Dallas area for 30 years. This is a short 2:15 editorial. And it was a great editorial as well. I really enjoy this guy's perspective. It is about the hot topic of gays in football.
