This has been a shitty Monday. Bad enough it was the first day of work for the week but to add to it, we're now required to wear safety glasses any time we're on the shop floor. No clue why....in 9 years we've had one eye injury....and that was a week ago when someone turned around and smacked their head against the computer console that hangs off one of my machines. The glasses wouldn't bug me if they provided us with decent ones, but the ones the company buys are the cheap shit 500 pair for $50 things from the industrial supply catalog. I tried a pair last week....took all of 10 minutes for them to give me a headache. Guess I have to break down and buy a good pair from an optical shop....only $95 for something that's going to get scratched up :/

Getting home hasn't improved the day any. I walked in the house and only got jumped by two dogs, Storm and Sissy. I found Zoie laying in the bedroom having another seizure...scared the hell out of me. I put her leash on her and took her outside...and by the time we made it down the steps, she was perfectly normal and wanting to chase a cricket around the yard. Walked the girls, then got back and went to check on little man in the kitchen. He's standing there wagging his tail and the floor is covered in brown paw prints. He'd had a bad case of the runs and tracked poop all over. First sick thought....he's got the parvo virus again....but the poop was all poop, no blood, and after I got done mopping he was following me begging for a snack. He got a piece of hamburger left from lunch, some slices of turkey and a cookie....and gobbled 'em all down as fast as I could hand them over. At least with an appetite like that I know it isn't parvo...just gotta figure out what upset his stomach so I don't get a repeat tomorrow.


...and did I mention one of the girls barfed on the sofa?

So, how's everyone else's Monday? I need a drink.....

I went out to feed the kids this morning and discovered that PJ and Linus had both lost their name tags. Linus has a rabies tag so he'd be safe, but PJ didn't get a tag when he got his shots at the shelter....so after work i went on a tag trip. New one for Linus, one for PJ, and tags for Slash, Sebastian and Bella. Maybe the dummies can keep 'em for a while this time....

The gloves have come off now. My attorney sent me a copy of the letter he is sending to the family up north. Nice, polite....but the veiled hint that if they don't get off their asses and sign the paperwork willingly, they will sign it under legal duress.

Sad that ya gotta take legal action against your own relatives....

I've avoided this topic for a long time but now it's time for a rant. Most of you know from last years blogs that I've had complications collecting on the homeowners insurance due to the way the property is deeded and the way the policy was written. I hired an attorney back in November to help with the legal stuff and he wrote up the paperwork that needed signatures from all the out-of-state family that are co-executors. Well, it's been over 3 months and no response from any of them. I've talked to them and explained what we were doing and why, my dad and aunt have both done the same. It looks like now we have no option but to take legal action to divide the land between the heirs. Dad went and spoke to the lawyer last week and he's doing the paperwork to legally force division of the land. I just can't understand why they would want to hold off on this issue....my aunt up north owns a 90 acre dairy farm, so there's plenty of land there for the kids....and none of them have expressed any interest in moving down here to make use of this property. My best guess, it's just pure greed. They see a chance to grab some land that they can sell....well, it isn't gonna happen. We will have the property surveyed again and equally divided between all the surviving heirs to grand-dads estate....they can just deal with it. If they really want to squawk, the lawyer says we can bill them for the last 30+ years of property taxes and insurance premiums that we payed.

...and people wonder why I love my dogs so much. Humans will fuck you over at every opportunity....dogs just wanna lick your face and get their ears scratched.

Since Sebastian has been hanging around, I figured it was time he get his shots....then figured Slash was old enough for his. Hard to tell he just recovered from parvo....4 months old and the little twerp weighs 30 lbs!

He looks like a black lab....but those ears are 100% pit bull!



This is Sebastian. He just showed up here last week and decided he likes it. Since I have no idea if he's had any shots I don't dare put him in the kennel. I have him on a runner so he can sleep on the porch and wander the front yard. We're trying to find him a home, but until then he's my porch hound.



He's also a goofball! Well mannered, almost too submissive and very friendly. Haven't figured out what he is yet....just guessing mixed black lab and Australian shepherd...

Just wanted to share a couple of shots of Slash...he doesn't pose well for photos, so these are as miraculous as him beating parvo!





He's rotten. I put a travel kennel in the kitchen for him to sleep in, complete with one of those small bathroom rugs. That wasn't enough. He has every house training pad we left on the floor....and the little fart dragged one of my work jackets off of a chair and had it in there!

Calli lost her fight with parvo last night. She was tired and in pain, so it was almost a relief when I told her to rest and she laid down and sighed. Even though I lost four of the pups, I can at least be happy that Slash is doing fine. He's confined to the house for another week, then everyone is going to the vet for booster shots. Thank you all for the kind words and support. You have all helped me retain what bit of sanity I had....which wasn't much, but y'all knew that.

The last pup that had managed to avoid getting sick seems to be getting sick. Calli still has energy, but she turned down a slice of turkey this morning....so inside she comes for drugs and IV.

On a brighter note....Slash ate breakfast this morning....after I caught him trying to open my lunchbox. I'd say he's recovered....
