Yeah, so, I'm FINALLY almost caught up on stuff at work. It's been an incredibly rough few weeks. I was absolutely certain by day's end, I'd have a clear desk.

Silly me.

We're gonna pick up Zippy the Wondercar this evening. I'm kinda psyched.

We've been looking at cars forever it seems. We have certain criteria that must be met re mileage and price. I actually want a few dings and dents on it already cuz then I don't have to drive all "nice" and stuff and people get out of my way which, of course, is preferred.

Found one today. Finally. It has the right number of dings and dents for me to like, too many for Poohbare to like. As a compromise, he'll fix a few, but not all. It runs like a dream and that's what matters most to me. It's a tool to get me from Point A to Point B. Nothing more. If it was all fancy schmancy I'd have to be responsible and we know that's simply not my style.

Besides, he got the guy to drop the price by $700. ka-CHING!

Yeah, so, Poohbare and I were staring at the ceiling in the kid's room this morning pondering the fate of the two florescent light fixtures that are just plain unattractive. I suggested removing the florescent lights, using the existing wiring, and putting some can lights in the ceiling and then drywalling around them to fill in the empty spots. He shot down that idea saying it's too much of a pain in the ass to do just a lil bit of drywall.

Sooooo this evening, as I'm looking at alternative florescent fixture/panels/etc. online, he comes up with a freaking BRILLIANT idea! He looks at me and says, how about we remove the florescents, put in some can lights and use the existing wiring? We could patch the area around with plywood.

WTF? I called him an idea thief and an asshole.

He maintains HIS idea is TOTALLY different from mine cuz he suggested plywood instead of drywall.

I maintain he's still an idea thief and an asshole. lol

Good gawd it's been a bitch of a week. I've already informed Poohbare that I'm getting wine tomorrow night. LOTS.

Perhaps we're just old, bitter, jaded cynics, but Poohbare and I have totally sworn off buying into the whole Valentine's Day hype. We see the commercials on TV and the displays in the stores and just roll our eyes and mumble "suckers!"

We prefer doing stuff every day that shows how much we mean to each other. It doesn't have to be some huge romantic gesture; in fact, it's often the little things that mean more. He put away the clean laundry for me. I cleared the snow off his car.

Don't be a dick all year long and expect one day to compensate. It won't. Show the one you love EVERY day that they're special.

The door I had on sawhorses and which was freshly painted this morning, now has a real cool graphic. It appears to be cat pawprints. Funny, the drop cloth has paw prints on it, too.

I'm ever so grateful the prednisone is doing the trick. I've been running on empty for too long and and getting caught up on my rest this weekend is such a luxury. Of course, I was up at 3ish painting and stuff cuz that's the way I swing. I think I'll take a nap while the paint dries on a door. By the time I wake, I should be able to get the doorknob back on it and get it rehung on its hinges.

I keep hearing about this really nifty stuff called "sleep" so, after much research and pondering I decided to try it out.

It lasted 7 1/2 hours. woot
I recommend it.

Oy! Long week.

Mom took her driving test yesterday and neither passed nor failed. She has to retake it in two weeks. I expect it will take that long for the instructor to recover from the anxiety attack induced by Mom's driving.

Work is pretty much a clusterfuck but I adamantly refuse to go in early, stay late or work through lunch. They ain't paying extra/I ain't working extra. Simple enough.

Tonight is dinner with Poohbare's boss. I'm kinda looking forward to it and already checked out the restaurant's menu to find out what's the most expensive stuff. heeheehee

The renovations continue. I find myself just staring at various things and pondering... I need to patch that hole in the drywall before I prime and paint and I need to get that done before putting up those lights and I need those lights up before I move this over there, and I have to move this over there before I can .... yeah.... It makes my head spin. Ack.

Too much to do and not enough hours in the day. Guess it's good I don't sleep well, right? Waking in the middle of the night gives me a head start. lol
