Thursday, September 2, 2021, 6:17:51 PM- Again with the dreams
Last night I had a dream I was out in the country. I was walking along a road and I could see in the distance an upcoming sharp 'S' turn. I know this road. It has long been used as a shortcut from the area where I grew up to another part of town. I wasn't walking alone, but I don't know who I was walking with, other than it was a woman. In the near distance, I could see a dog chained to a peg in the middle of the empty corn field. The chain was very, very long and reached across the road. The dog wasn't barking. In fact, it seemed friendly. It parelleled our walk. The odd part is that the dog kept changing color whenever I looked at it. It went from being a dark combination of black and gray, to brown and tan to finally white. So today, on a whim, I went to a dream interpretation site to see if I could find out the meaning. In short: A friendly dog is a good sign. That the dog turned white is good as well. The chain symbolizes being alone in old age. So a loose explanation would be that I will live my old age alone, but happily. I can live with that. Hopefully with a good dog. ~

NN was down earlier today. Several hours later, after going to/from work, I see all is back in working order. Kudos, tech team. ~

It's nice to know that at the ripe old age of 69, I still think about sex. It still even permeates my dreams. I still fantasize quite a bit every day. I can still 'perform' whenever I get the opportunity. Sadly, I'm now like the old Native American standing on the corner repeatedly saying "chance" to passersby. In the joke, when asked if he doesn't mean "how", he replies: "I know how, I just need a chance." Such is life for a senior single. ~

Monday, August 30, 2021, 6:34:10 PM- Tyrone Power
1914-1958 Tyrone Power was an American film actor from the 1930's to the 1950's. He was well known for being an action/swashbuckler film star. I watched 1941's 'A Yank in the R.A.F.' (co-star Betty Grable) last night. Tonight I'm watching two of his films: 'The Razor's Edge' and my own personal favorite 'Nightmare Alley', both from 1946. It's really nice to have access to film libraries so that you can binge-watch your favorite stars. ~

... the stores where I shop don't have enough bleedin' baskets. Carts? Way too many. I kind of have this feeling the stores are trying to entice people to buy more than they intended when they arrived. I know this pandemic has been rough on the economy. I also know lots of people are cutting back on their spending. The reason I started thinking of this began when I went to the grocery Saturday. I gathered my few items in my cart and headed for the checkout. That is when I noticed how many people with one, two or three items were in line - and all of them were pushing grocery carts. I didn't see anyone with a shopping basket. The things you notice with your idle time of standing in line. ~

I have always heard people complain about the heat in the summer. I also always heard people my dad's age, when someone complained, say: "It's not the heat, it's the humidity". Today was another one of those days when it was 'Too Hot'. ~

Thursday, August 26, 2021, 6:44:32 PM- Life lesson #33
It seems like every day I read where someone says their social media account has been hacked. The same people who tell you what street they grew up on, the name of the first car they owned and the name of their favorite pet. These are frequently the same questions they are answering that are used for security purposes with your password. Scammers make these things sound innocent enough so they can get into your accounts. Be careful what you share out there on the World Wide Web, people. ~

Wednesday, August 25, 2021, 7:01:43 PM- How hot is it?
So hot that a tiny bird landed on my window sill where I have a fan pointed outward to draw the heat through my place. The fan is on high. The little bird sat there for several minutes, cooling off I presume, then flew away. If that little bird comes by again, I'll try to set out some water. Hey, I've got to at least try to be a good host. ~

Tuesday, August 24, 2021, 5:53:15 PM- It's torture
One of the most annoying things about late night t.v. is their tendency to show commercials for restaurant chains. The food looks so good and yes, I could eat that delicious fare right now, thank you, but it's 2:00 am and your place of business is closed! When I see food that tantalizing, mere chips or popcorn will not fill the void of hunger I'm now experiencing. Why are you doing this to me? Are you planting a seed in my brain, thinking I will rush out in the daytime when you're open to fulfill this ravenous desire? Well, I won't! Mostly it's on principle, but actually it's because I have too much to do in my daily life to succumb to your temptations. If you want me as a customer, you should play these tortuous reminders in the morning. Then you might have a chance of capturing me. Until you do this my way, I have one response: Where's the remote control? ~

[link removed] In case you wondered, I typed that. I didn't think naming an annoying plugin would cause a problem. I guess I didn't get the memo on that one. I must conform!
