Who belives in 'fate'? The story I'm about to tell might change your mind.
I wasn't a beliver in fate until 9 years ago, what happened in 2001 affected my life forever.
In 2000, I planned to go for a trip to Paris with an organised tour, the trip was organised to take place at the end of June 2001, a month after the booking was made, the trip was cancelled due to lack of interest.
In January 2001 I arranged to have a weekend at a naturist place in Bournemouth to take place over the weekend 29th June to 1st July.
In early 2001 I left my work and decided to go for a 6 week trip to New York but the only dates available was April/May so went and had a good time, on my return back home was enjoying life to the full when in early June, I went away for a couple of days and returned home around midnight on Friday 22nd June to find my telephone ringing, on answering it my ex-wife told me our daughter had been taken to hospital and the diagnosis wasn't good. I made great haste to the hospital in my ex-wifes town to be told our daughter had died, I was devastated to say the least, as I was due to be away the following weekend, I was trying to decide should I go away or not? It took me all week to makr the decision that changed my life, I went and was only going to go to try and sort my life out. While there I met a lady who wouldn't normally have been there, we clicked straight away and she is now my wife.
The upshot is that had I been away in Paris, that would have been the weekend in question and wouldn't have been around when my daughter died, my new wife didn't want to be at the hotel in Bournemouth either, if she hadn't gone we would never have met, fate transpired for me to be in the couhtry for the death and my new wife to be at that hotel.
Sorry it's a sad story but hope it makes you think of your actions and why we do what we do. |
