Today we put down our horse...he was very old...over 30, which is ancient for a horse. It wasn't an easy decision but we felt that another hard winter would've been cruel for him. Last winter was tough for him, he lost a lot of weight and never put it back on, his hips were very bad and walking was painful, he caught a terrible cold and had a hard time just breathing. We finally found a gentleman willing to come out with his backhoe to bury him so today Wolf and I gave the horse an apple, a carrot and some hay & grain, walked him over to a special spot and then Wolf put him down. The backhoe came after that and took care of the rest. So...Unlikely...run like you were when you were a colt, kick up those heels and cavort with glee. For our horse: TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON, AND A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE UNDER HEAVEN A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew, a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” (Eccl 3) |
