A Haiku Teams pull opposite, rope singing taut between them, a balance achieved. I've long thought tug o' war was a decent if unoriginal metaphor for politics. If one side lets go of the rope the other falls on its arse. We pull as hard as we can but we need the other side for a vibrant system. Not everyone thinks the same way, Stalin, Franco or SCM I imagine would disagree. Here's an interesting take on it which is challenging for us 'liberals' who think people who vote for the republican party are just stupid. It's from a psychologist who looks at the moral basis of political ideology and it's called the 'Real Difference Between Liberals and Conservatives.' http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/jonathan_haidt_on_the_moral_mind.html I've linked it from a from a website called TED which is a wonderful space billing itself as a place for 'inspired talks by the world's greatest thinkers and doers.' They come from a wide and entertaining variety of scientific and artistic backgrounds. If you like your thoughts provoked, to be challenged and delighted, I recommend TED highly.

Well, got accused of being a hippy for posting serge gainsbourg so thought I may as well go the whole way. Was put in mind of it by a wise comment on a troll-ish thread which said "suppose they give a thread and no-one comes." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChW27_XbjWU

"From thirty yards she looks like the kinda dame you wanna take home and practise the rhumba with. Up close she looks like the kinda dame who looks better thirty yards away." An example. You know sometimes if you spend time in a different country or a place where they talk with a different dialect you can pick up an accent and without realising start speaking like that? I think I do the same thing but with me writing. One time I went through a phase of reading Kinky Freidman stories. He's a comic writer in the style of Raymond Chandler. For a while everytime I wrote a letter or anything else stuff like that "dame" quote at the top would spew out. Well I just looked down my blog and re-read the Blockbuster entry and I think it's happening all over again. It's "sure damn bugging the hell outta" me but coming on here is making me write with an american accent. Aaaarggghhh

Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 6:36:59 PM- Blockbusters!
Well, the blocking thing is gonna fuck up those first letter/last letter threads in Fun n Games lol and it's sure gonna make me para if someone don't respond to a post I've made. I won't be using it cos I'm too damn inquisitive and it'll bug the hell out of me if I see a hidden post. If I don't wanna read one I'll just step over it like I do with dog turd on the pavement. It'll change the dynamic of the forums no doubt and maybe some will curb their excesses for fear of becoming blocked by everyone else. I guess I'm not really in favour of the move if I'm honest although I can definitely see how people plagued by nasty comments on pics or blogs might disagree. Anyways, don't forget to register interest in Book Club (see last post)...I'll stick a thread up about it once I think it might be a go-er. Laters!

Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 1:12:50 AM- Book Club
I'm gonna run this puppy past you again with a naked pic this time.... You know what it's like, you read a story, you think about the story, you are confused by it, enthused by it or disappointed. You wanna talk about it but noone you know has read it. Well, how about we start an NN book club and then we can talk about our chosen read until its thread dies a natural death? It could work well and would provide an intelligent alternative to political debate in general discussion. I thought I'd float the idea here to guage interest. It would be important to choose a text that is short and accessible. I'm thinking a short story, maybe even a poem, and something that can be found in full on the internet. There's quite a bit knocking around online. Would anyone be interested or do you have a pal here who might like to join in? If so, then spread the word and leave a comment below. Well there's at least a couple up for it so far, cheers for the interest...... need2releaseit: as long as its porn ... IM IN .... lol.. just joking. I think thats a terrific idea! mdguy: Books... those are the things with pages, right? seaxun: do they have any pictures in em?..i will join if they got pictures...oh! ....and pop up pictures there ..fascinating SexiBex: Yeah cool... im in lol. ..

..... And binding with briars my joys and desires. There's a gay rights thread going on in general discussion and it's got onto religion. Here's what artist duo Gilbert and George think about it:
