manlycornhusk's blog post - Time Slips Away For The Manlycornhusk

Could it be....July was the last time I blogged? That's hard to believe but it's true. What the hell happened to all that passing time? The NFL has instant replay and it's been a love/hate thing since its inception. I'm thinking "life" could benefit from it, as well.

I didn't build the eiffel tower, cure aids, stop world hunger, create the perfect mouse trap, learn how to communicate effectively to a teenage girl, be the perfect husband, erradicate my sinful ways, loose my excess poundage, build my vocabulary daily or even perfect my eggs over easy wrist flip. Sheesh...what have I been doing.

I'm 46 now and my life is primarily the mundane. Nothing to write home about, not much to tell future generations fantastic stories over. Just daily life and trying to hold together a life that constantly threatens to fly apart at the seams. Blaringly obvious to me now is that I'm nothing special and my world is decidedly ordinary..sigh

So I'm not a Superman. I'm just Doug and I'm going to remain "just Doug" until I become "Freshly Dug" at the end of my life. I'm ok with that...I guess. Blows all my illusions of gradeur out of the water but that's the way it goes. (fill moment of silence with quiet weeping)

I hope the rest of you are ok with that. I'm worried about blowing your entire image of me, wink, wink.

This is just to say: I still think of all of you and miss having the time to make it more regular. For now, "great BIG bear hugs for all who wish to be mauled saliciously and peace and love to you all.

glad to see the big bear finally came out of hibernation ;-) Big bear hug back to you my friend. So what if you didn't cure cancer or invent the wheel? Society is made up of people and people make this world move forward. Is a doctor better than a gardener? Is a scientist better than a musician? Is an accountant better than a metal worker? NO, they are not. Because without the gardener the world would be dirty and there would be no flowers. Without the musician and his tunes the doctor's office would be boring. Without the metal worker rockets would not have been built and the scientist would not have instruments to do his research. Everyone is important and contributes to the forward movement of this world, no matter what it is they do. The world's real heroes come in many forms, shapes and sizes.
;-)
