There has been a lot of talk about trolls lately and that combined with the troll hunting, troll poking, troll snaring, what ever you want to call it, which I have done in the past. Makes me question, what do you call someone who trolls a troll? Some think it means they are cool, or a rebel, or awesome, or a hero akin to Beowulf, but truth is even if only for a moment it makes you a troll...
Now a similar subject is Sockpuppets, which truth be told are more common then trolls. Sockpuppets are often created to argue with, for, or against the puppeteer. Many here are a simple strawpuppet type that make complimentary comments and statements in agreement with the puppeteer, or idiotic and ridiculous arguments that the puppeteer can easily rebuke or discredit.
These can be seen in almost every part of the site, and in the forums they are so rampant that some of the puppeteers even accuse their own puppets of being other peoples sockpuppets.
But the worst and saddest kind of sockpuppet is the Meatpuppet, a member who through their own denial of the fact that they are being manipulated is used as a puppet, to fight for and argue about issues that the puppeteer wants others to take up arms for. Many times it is very easy for these members to be controlled simply for the fact that they long to be a hero, so they fall for the hero trap.
Think for a moment about all the things that have been happening here and how many people who are not directly or even indirectly involved with it are getting into the middle of it, starting forum post and blogs about issues that are really non issues and why? to be heroes, to be the saviors when in fact they are puppets being manipulated by a puppeteer who without whom, there would be no cause for these heroes to take up arms for.
