The hotel was lovely, but in a slightly run down neighborhood... The hotel room: The building across the street:

This sculpture wasn't one of my favorites, but in the photos it turned out pretty well. Anything looks great with a lovely blue sky in the background, I guess

Monday, March 22, 2010, 10:17:47 PM- Miracles of the human body
My temperature went from 38,24°C Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, to 35,75°C this morning. From fever to hypothermia, lol, the human body is capable of miracles On top of that I felt miraculously fresh too, having gotten up at 6am, very strange. This flue thing did me some good, lol. Until we have to move the clock forward an hour, next weekend already, that'll be less fun... The partial computer format went reasonably well, reinstalling and recustomizing my computer is a b*tch though. A few more evenings of working through it, oh joy

Got back from Barcelona yesterday afternoon. I was feeling like 'crap' so I decided to take my temperature: 38,24°C. I can't remember the last time I had a fever over 38°C... Nice way to come back from a holiday And tomorrow back to work as well, I'll just have to "sick it out" today I might prepare my computer for a partial format, hoping it will solve some software issues.

Sunday, March 14, 2010, 10:06:14 PM- Almost!
Tomorrow at 6pm we're off to Barcelona for a few days! Shame on me, having studied Spanish at university, it's my first visit to Spain I still have to pack my bags, but plenty of time for that as the construction workers will arrive at 7am again, to work on our roof. No rest for the wicked...

Thursday, March 11, 2010, 9:38:07 PM- Finishing touches?
Tomorrow is my last day at work before a week off (Barcelona). As usual lots of loose ends to tie up, and three meetings planned which will take up the bulk of my day. I'll try and make an early start tomorrow, just like yesterday and the day before: arrival at work at 7.30 AM! And no, I'm not a morning person, just really masochistic On a negative note, I'm reviewing last year's annual report (I'm working an this year's, so trying to figure out what to improve), and the statistic work turns out to be even worse than I thought last year when I read the report. Seriously, someone who's supposed to be a professional when it comes to statistics did this work, and it reeks of incompetence. I have a meeting with her tomorrow to discuss improvements on this year's report, and I'm going to have a really hard time staying diplomatic. I'm looking forward to tomorrow, if only to get it over with

Monday, March 8, 2010, 8:47:59 AM- Working from home
It's a great 'invention', working from home... Last Monday I worked from home for the first time, somewhat difficult with regard to self discipline, but liberating at the same time (no telephone calls, etc.) And today I'm working from home again, unfortunately they're renovating our roof, and it sounds more like they're demolishing it

No details, but yesterday was a crappy day. But today I feel like I can take on the world. Very positive feel about today, about the events (a special day at work to change our organizational culture), but also about surprising myself, about 'connecting' with my boss (honesty turned out to be a good move). Well, no one probably understands what I'm on about But I feel like I've 'grown' immensely these past few months, as if it took me two years to 'get comfortable' in my work environment, etc. Loads of flaws in me, that's for sure, but at least working on them is something to look forward to.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 5:42:46 AM- Patience...
... is a virtue. They were supposed to start on our roof in December. And then it snowed. They were going to start in January. And then it snowed. They were going to start in February. And then it snowed some more. They now say that they will start this Thursday. The catch is: they have about two weeks worth of work, and we go on holiday the 15th... Yes, tricky I'm not about to go on holiday with scaffolding around the house, that's just asking for burglars... Life is never dull planning around builders' schedules, but it does take patience
