Whataburger

In-N-Out Burger

Five Guys

FatBurger

I like them all and cannot debate which is the best burger. All I can say, is that it is like sex and whatever mood I am in delegates what I partake in.

Do you have a preference?

The only place we have from your list around here is Five Guys. They do make a great burger. We have a local small chain that makes a good one as well.

What? You've been absent for 6 months and we're talking about burgers? Please come by more often, you're missed!

Most of the good burgers I've ever had were either small family owned places or in backyards. Most of the chains don't impress me, but I have had decent burgers at some of them. Five Guys ain't bad, kinda like Culvers, , can do Wendy's as well. Anyways, I agree, it all depends on the mood.

I've lived on both coasts and in the middle. I don't recall having Fatburger, but I've definitely had the other three. I put Five Guys in a different class. They're not a standard drive-thru burger. To me, the difference between Five Guys and Whataburger or In-n-Out is like the difference between Chipotle and Taco Bell or Dell Taco. They're fast casual, not fast food. And they're good, might be the best burgers in their class.

When it comes down to In-n-Out vs Whataburger, to me In-n-Out is the clear winner. I don't hate Whataburger, but what you get is over-priced for what it is. The one thing they do have on In-n-Out is selection. You can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Whataburger, and there's several burgers, chicken, and more. But In-n-Out does only one thing, and they do it supremely well. There's a reason there's a line around the block every day at lunch and dinner with most of their locations. They don't use heat lamps, microwaves, or freezers and it shows in the quality.

If you priced Whataburger down about 25% or so, I'd think they were a better option than they are now. Where I grew up in southern California, we had a small chain called the Hamburger Stand (they're still around, I think). Their claim to fame was cheap. You could get their basic cheeseburger for a quarter (this was in the early 90's). We used to go there and get a bag of burgers and a bag of fries for a few bucks and have enough to feed a half dozen people or more. They had bigger burgers as well, but all were still pretty cheap. There wasn't anything special about them, they were just cheap and edible. Whataburger reminds me of their burgers, only a lot pricier.

Unfortunately, now I live in New Hampshire, so I don't get In-n-Out or Whataburger unless I go visit friends and family in Texas or California. Here I'm stuck with McDonalds, Wendy's, or Burger King.

Damn... now I'm getting hungry.

We've got a whole chain called whataburger... that isn't actually the same as the Texas brand!

However as only 1/4 of these are actually here, I gotta stick with Five Guys <3 I think if sauce were a factor it might be different, but I wanna taste all the meat :P
