"IT" was the sound of silence.
Before long I will be bitching about homework and naggy teachers but now.....I just love it when the kids are at school!!!

What an absolutely incredible weekend it was. As if a 3 day weekend isn't enough........3 hot sunny days is just pure bliss!!!

Whats even better than that is TOMORROW SCHOOL STARTS - YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Pardon my excitement but 3 kids home all summer and a 4th a few times a week (my daughter was babysitting him) - I simply cannot wait to come home and find my house looking the same at lunch and after work as it did when I left it. I might even have some food left too if I am really lucky LOL!!

Just this morning in chat a handsome younger man complimented me by telling me he didn't think there was any possible way I could have a daughter 13 yrs old. I thanked him of course and tucked that into the back of my brain for tomorrow......

because............tomorrow.......I become a "grand" aunt/great aunt. One of my sisters daughters is having a baby tomorrow and I am finding this all a little hard to swallow.

TG - embracing the idea of having a new baby in my life..but not thrilled with the title. Think he can just call me "auntie" TG and forget the preceeding part..

I played in the beautiful northland of Ontario this weekend, as I do most weekends from May - October. I debated staying home cause the weather was not supposed to be great....and it wasn't but I still had a very enjoyable weekend.

We visted the town docks at Parry Sound. It was their annual tug boat festival so it was interesting to see them up close....we even boarded a few and had a look around. Interesting to say the least. We also had opportunity to see 2 tall ships that were docked their for a few hours while the Island Queen (a tour boat) was out for their afternoon cruise. What was interesting about these ships was the fact that the crew were all aged 13-18. What an incredible experience for youth. Needless to say my son was in awe of this.....he is counting the days till he is 13 so he can go. I looked online and the cost ranges from $800 - $1300 for 1 or 2 weeks aboard. Costly....but wow....imagine....

Yesterday it was warmer but still a little overcast so we headed to a wildlife centre. This was not a zoo but rather a place for injured or abandoned animals to nursed back to health and then released into the wild. A handful of the animals will never be released because they are too tame, or too ill. They have a female lion that has been there a number of years now. A 15 yr old girl bought her at auction and when she got bigger decided she could not keep her.....well duhhhhhh what was she thinking. My X got mad at me when I brought home a puppy pffffttttttttt!!!

A good time was had by all. Gearing up now for the labour day long weekend and following that.....school begins yeahhhhhhhhhhh!!

TG...dreading work today but also thankful for time well spent with her wee ones!!

Alas.....after 6 LONGGGGGGGGGGGG weeks my dry spell is over!!!!

Finally!!! Going back to work after a fairly lengthy holiday just plain sucks. What sucks even more is that it's 6:33 AM - I don't have to be at work until 9 AM - CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY I UP??

The good news is that I am off to the cottage tonight. I have some friends coming up tomorrow to spend Sat. & Sun. with me and they are so much fun. I am really looking forward to it.

Hopefully the weather will be nice and the beach/boat will be nicer. My tan lines are already fading. Enjoy folks.

I arrived home this afternoon after a glorious week in Ontario's north aka "cottage county" and a place I like to call my second home. I don't think I could have asked for 2 more incredible weeks to have off. In all my travels I only saw rain once and that was during the night. I have a perma grin and a great tan and I can't wait to get my camera out (maybe tomorrow) to take some long overdue pics.
