womenrbeautiful's blog post - California Fires

Just finished watching the news and WOW! My heart is breaking for the victims of these horrendous fires in Southern California that don't seem to be lessening any time soon. I try to put myself in their shoes and I just can't. My emotions are not strong enough; I am not strong enough. Everybody keeps saying, that they are lucky to be alive. I wholeheartedly agree. However, what about the family photos/videos, momentos, and just plain memories that they have lost? A home is more than it's physical existence. It is the family, the love, the memories that dwell within its walls. A home is a sanctuary that you look forward to entering every day, especially on bad days. A home is a place where loved ones smile to see you and you feel loved. A home is a place where babies grow to toddlers, crawl, walk, and talk for the very first time. A home is a place that renews your body and soul for the day ahead. That, my friends, is irreplaceable. So, here I sit on the opposite end of the country praying for those in need, thanking God that all I have to contend with is an occasional hurricane, and counting my many blessings. Have a blessed evening everyone. |
