Have you ever reached a point when you know you have to do something, take action, not sit quietly and take it like you normally would? Tomorrow I have to take some action. I hate having to do it, but if I don't, I know I am going to regret it. I have a gut feeling that I have to make a stand and I am going to do so! Wish me luck!

After the Welsh cake incident I seem to be doing ok. I haven't (consiously or otherwise) eaten any choccy all week. As it's Friday I am having a nice glass or two of wine and some pasta. I think if I can have some sort of nice thing per day, I am ok. Sometimes that is salad/fish/something equally yummy but healthy and sometimes it is a tiny bit of naughty stuff like wine. Had a generally cool day apart from the last hour in work when I had to verbally joust with a senior colleague who constantly tries to nick all of my more interesting work. Don't you just hate people who let you do the work and then try to steal the glory. Bastards! Ah well, it's Friday so let's chill out and enjoy the weekend

I accidentally ate a Welsh cake today. I looked down and it had jumped into my hand... and then in my mouth lol. Never mind, it was small, I hadn't had breakfast, and it's not chocolate eh! If you don't know what a Welsh cake is, here is a Wikipaedia link (is there anything not on WikiP!?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_cake

This morning world wakes up to a new President Elect and a turning point in history. Amazing! I hope that this decision brings together the parties and the people to try and work together through some of the difficult issues arising in the US. I am optimistic this morning. PS Am not sorry that Palin isn't going to be anywhere near the White House. I still can't believe John McCain chose her. If and when a woman gets in there as President or Vice President please let it be someone who isn't.... well... that woman! She's good comedy fodder but there are so many better, vastly intelligent, empathetic, sensible women out there we could all be proud of!

It's an important day today - no I am not just talking about the US elections. It's my second day without chocolate! Thanks to you all for your supportive messages re the abandonment of my ciggies. It didn't really hit me until I went to the airport recently that I no longer needed to stand outside the airport as long as I could manage without missing check in, smoking 20 ciggies just in case I couldn't smoke for another 3 hours. Thanks also for your suggestions of new addictions. I am considering chewing postcards and gum together whilst being addicted to exercise. I can use the toothpicks to remove bits of postcard later! Perfect. Until I chance upon my new addiction, I am convincing my brain that I am addicted to grapes. If I think it enough it might happen, and apart from having to visit the loo more regularly, this might actually be a good thing. I've eaten quite a few today and I do like them. Mmmm the vision of a chocolate covered raisin did just flash into my brain though. I love choccy covered raisins.........

First day of no chocolate (and no nicotene of course as it's been MONTHS since I smoked). All is going ok so far. For the more difficult times, however, I am trying to think of a replacement addiction for the chocolate.... Ideas on a postcard please

Monday, November 3, 2008, 7:53:57 AM- Divas
To answer jbh below lol, yes of course I dislike the divas as they are all lollipop ladies (heads too big for their stick like bodies) ;P Nah they all have their own special annoyances as warbly women e.g. why sing so many notes, why sing through your nose, why sing country, why sing at all etc. I agree, Justin T is annoying too jph - so cheesy. He's a bloody good dancer but I am not really into glitz, I prefer grunge! I'm just a rock chick I guess... Thank you all for your supportive comments yesterday following the pic posting, they are much appreciated at this lardier point in my life. The diet starts today (I have minimal chocolate in the house). I am preparing to go to work and hope it'll be ok. HATE first day back after holidays. Have a good day!

Sunday, November 2, 2008, 10:16:27 AM- Just musing
We spent some time pic taking last night. We haven't taken any for ages, partly cos we've been really busy and generally tired which is a bit sad. Also though cos since I gave up smoking in April I seem to have put on about half a stone of excess lard, all of which seems to be settling around my middle. This is, of course, not only assisted by a slightly slowed metabolism (I guess) but also by the fact that I am eating a diet mostly consisting of chocolate. God I love chocolate now! The one thing I would change about getting older is to re-distribute any weight I put on around my body - my earlobes and my feet are looking a bit thin, they could do with some extra lard. It's only the last couple of years that this has happened and it really annoys me. I don't mind wrinkles and grey hair but don't want a belly like a barrel! Now my hols are nearly over and I have a wedding and Xmas fesitivies to look forward to, I really need to knuckle down, get back to the gym and cut down on all the bad things I am currently enjoying. C'est la vie! Anyway we spent a bit of time posing and taking pics so that I don't look too much like Tweedeldum or Tweedeldee. Think they are ok for now but hope to be posting more svelte pics soon! Oh god I have to go and throw up now as there seems to be a Shania Twain day on the music channel I'm currently watching. That's one way of losing the weight - listening to Shania's wailing all day! (apols to any fans out there but she, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion make me hurl!).

Saturday, November 1, 2008, 1:13:51 PM- Re-run of Halloween
Hope all you trick and treaters had a great Halloween. I didn't really have Halloween as such last night. I had a lovely evening with a couple of work mates but we didn't really do anything Halloweenish or even have any ghouls or ghosties knock the door (the latter bit is ok by me though). Mr McB and I are going to have Halloween tonight instead and curl up on the sofa in the dark to watch a marathon of scary movies, including the obligatory "Halloween" (you can't beat it)! I LOVE horror movies. My top 5 are: Halloween Dawn of the Dead (I love both versions so am counting them as one) The Shining Evil Dead (all of them) Manhunter Still not sure what we'll watch tonight apart from Halloween but I have "Teeth" (...a vagina with teeth - whatever will they think of next?!). It looks pretty funny! So many to choose from!
