Living in MN and being in the Military with praticallly the whole state in Iraq you get to hear a lot of different and sadd things. Lately we have been doing a lot of funnerals. We are loosing our WW II vets at a extremely fast rate. Most of these old soldiers are taking thier exsperiences with them to the grave. And that is a shame. One of my best experiences in High School was a history project where I got to interview an old Navy Vet from WW II and write a report. I know this old Seaman (hehehe) never talked about his experiences and would have taken his to his grave until we talked. Grampa I miss you.
That and with active duty losses lately we have done a funneral for the last 4 weeks staight.
I want to share one we did a couple weeks ago......I was reading through blogs and started reading Sexy mom of 4's when I saw the Iwo Jima flag pic. For those who didn't know:
RICHFIELD, Minn., June 26 (AP) — Charles W. Lindberg, one of the marines who raised the first American flag over Iwo Jima during World War II, died Sunday in the Minneapolis suburb of Edina. He was 86.
He was the last survivor of either flag raising.
Happy fouth of July all and remember those who keep making it safe and free for all of us being military, Police, Fireman, Mothers, Fathers, and common people. |
