Sunday, February 6, 2011, 12:15:59 PM- UGH!
So I got up this morning, got a shower, got dressed, and headed off to work, even though I was chilling and running a fever of 101. Yeah, didn't go to well. I got across town and had to stop and get sick...twice. So I turned around and came home. Going to climb under a pile of blankets and see if I can't sweat this shit out.

Someone broke in last night and stole my TV remote. Not the TV, just the remote. Now he keeps driving by and changing the channel. Sick bastard! Just kidding. Haven't been on much last couple of days. My son is sick, some kind of virus the Doc said. "It's going around and you just have to let it run it's course." So, no meds, just go home and suffer. "Ten days to two weeks is how long it's lasting" says the Doc. FFS, he's got another week or so... What a crock! But you know what's worse, now I'm feeling shit, ache all over, sore throat, running a mild temp 99.5 and may son says "Sorry Dad, but that's how it started for me." So now I have two weeks of feeling like shit to look forward too... oh, and the kicker, guess how many sick days the wonderful place I work for gives us a year? 4! Damn.

Friday, February 4, 2011, 1:11:33 AM- My Boss is an ASSHOLE!
So, I get a call yesterday afternoon from my boss saying that since I took yesterday off due to the inclement weather, I was being mandated to work today. I wasn't happy with the situation as I was looking forward to a four day weekend, but not having any choice I went to work today. I walk in and there is a 8X11 sheet of paper taped to the time clock. It's an email, dated yesterday morning, from the CEO. It says that due to the unusually severe weather employees who werent able to make it to work on Tues or Weds were being given three choices. 1. Use sick, personal, or vacation time and not bother with making the time up. 2. Work an OPTIONAL day during the employee's normal days off to make up for the missed hours. 3. Just write the missed hours off, no pay, but no discipline either for missing work and not using time off. WTF?!?!?! I was told I HAD to work today or face discipline. Now I find out that was a fucking lie? Needless to say I was a bit pissed. I went to my boss's boss and explained the situation to him, along with a dozen others who were likewise told we HAD to work today. Long story short, my boss spent the afternoon in with the big bosses, explaining his actions over the last several days. (Refusing to allow people who lived long distances away to leave work early Tuesday, which endangered lives by forcing people to drive home in blizzard conditions when he had been TOLD by the CEO to allow us to leave, and lying to employees about the mandatory work today.) He was still in the meetings, or went straight home from there, as we didn't see him back in the warehouse the rest of the afternoon. I hope the worthless no good lazy fuck gets fired. But, they would just replace him with someone worse.

Thursday, February 3, 2011, 4:15:47 AM- We survived, LOL.
I had planned to not venture out today for several reasons. First, it's fuking cold out there. Second, the road crews don't need extra traffic while they are trying to clear the streets. Third, it's fuking cold out there. But, my son ran out of medicine, and my wife ran out of Diet Pepsi, and so I was sent off to Walmart to remedy the situation. FFS people....LEARN HOW TO DRIVE ON SNOW AND ICE PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Damn, I was almost in a half dozen accidents just sitting at stop lights. *rolls eyes* But, we're digging out and life goes on. Tomorrow it's back to work.

My backyard. The snow is almost up to the seats on the chairs Looking out my front door Looking east down the street Snow falling last night after dark There was so much snow in the air the autofocus on the camera wanted to focus on it, instead of the house across the street.

Wednesday, February 2, 2011, 12:50:41 AM- Well, I made it, no thanks to the asshole. :(
So, it starts snowing about 7 AM, and by 10:30 some of our truck drivers are refusing to leave due to the road conditions. At 11:00 they sent all the front office people home....but our supervisor said we needed to get as much done as possible since they were expecting lots of call in's tomorrow. (I'll be one of those, LOL) Around 2:30 several of us made a call to the Employee Hotline, a line that goes direct to the President/Ceo. BTW, this is a private owned business, managed by the children of the man who started it. Anyway, around 2:45 the President walks in the door, right ahead of our manager (my supervisor's immediate boss) The manager headed straight for me and wanted to know why I was still there. I told him my supervisor said I had to stay till five and he told me to go home. So, I went home... what is normally a 50 minute drive took two and a half hours. I got stuck once, but being the smart person I am, I brought a shovel, sand bags, and ice melter salt along, so I was able to get going again. Oh, and no, I wasn't in a ditch, I was stuck in a three foot deep drift in the middle of the highway. But, I home safe and sound, and all's well that ends well I guess.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011, 3:47:27 AM- Mother Fucker!!!
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LINCOLN HAS ISSUED A BLIZZARD WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TUESDAY TO NOON CST WEDNESDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST TUESDAY. ACCUMULATIONS...MINOR ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF LESS THAN ONE QUARTER INCH ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 12 TO 18 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. * WINDS...NORTHEAST WINDS OF 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL OCCUR TUESDAY NIGHT. STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE ON WEDNESDAY AS THEY SHIFT TO THE NORTHWEST. * IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT DUE TO SLEET AND ICE. THEN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TUESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...AS BLIZZARD CONDITIONS DEVELOP IN THE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW. NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY IN WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED AT TIMES...ESPECIALLY TUESDAY NIGHT. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE LIKELY. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS...MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED...STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE. Do not travel! And my boss says I, and everyone else on my shift, either come to work (a 40 mile drive one way) or face discipline, which could include termination. Fucker lives two fucking blocks from work, and has a fucking heart of fucking stone. Threatening to fire someone, and making them chose between risking their life or their job is fucking bullshit!!! He knows that in todays economy, especially in this area, I, and most of my fellow employees, can't afford to lose our jobs. We've lost three major employers in the area in the last five years, and there are more people looking for work than jobs available. So, he figures he can be an ass about it and get away with it. I hope he slips and breaks a fucking leg tomorrow. I'd say I hoped he broke his head but it's already broke. He is management after all.
