Yeah...so.... it's totally against my will and not to my liking at all, but I'm getting my first smartphone this week. I dread it. I LIKE my flip phone, dammit!

I held out on even getting my first cell phone until '08. The only reason I got one then is because I was going through a divorce and the kids needed to be able to reach me when I was commuting to/from work. I've had my current flip phone for three years, dropped it numerous times, and though it looks a little scuffed, it still works great. It makes calls, sends texts and takes pics. That's truly all I want in a cell phone.

But... with the shop's security system I need to be able to tap into the cameras when we're out of town. I need GPS so we don't get lost as often. I need to be able to find addresses and phone numbers to places we're going (cuz we invariably leave our notes at home).

*sigh* The worst part: I'm gonna have to ask the Spawn to teach me how to use the dang thing. Nothing good can come of this.

I resisted forever, I took the piss and generally snickered like crazy about them. Now I'm surgically attached to mine. I no longer carry a handbag, just my phone!

LOL HP. I fought the smart phone revolution too until last fall. I was cowed, beaten down. I still don't use all the features, probably less than 5%, but hey, you never know.
I do miss my old flip phone though.

I fought it as well. Now my smart phone is just another thing in my life that helps me in the things I do. I look at it as a means, something that helps me .

i fought it also... but this one was free through verizon so i bit the bullet all i do with it use the phone and the camera from to time to time no e-mail thts data useage i don't need to use and forget texting... sad but true my children had to show me how to send pics

Only reason I got a flat phone was because of included keyboard. Darn folks don't even use their voice mail. I'll hold off on the smart phone for another ten years. :)

my phone is smart, it currantly knows knot to ring, or I'll BASH IT :)) I taught it how to do that :)
