Friday, June 21, 2019, 6:50:23 PM- A Star is (re)Born
I'm getting ready to watch Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in 'A Star is Born'.
The newest version is now the fourth. I went to the movies to see the one with Kris Kristofferson and Barbara Striesand in 1976. The original was made in 1937, starring Janet Gaynor and Frederich March. Another was made in 1954, with Judy Garland and James Mason.
"So we were indeed watching the 1954 version last night, but didn't realize it was an almost 3 hour movie. Made it to the intermission, will be watching the rest soon. It's a strange film because of the heavy editing, with scenes of black and white stills inserted here and there. But it is worth observing Judy Garland's acting, as this was a strong cinematic comeback for her, post-MGM. And my goodness, that voice!"- MitchandDaisy

Wednesday, June 19, 2019, 6:26:23 PM- Long, long, long
Hairstyles come and go, for both women and men. As a kid in the late 50's and early 60's, I had a crew cut, what would now be called a buzz cut. Girls at that time wore their hair in a bouffant style, heavy on the hairspray.
The Beatles arrived in the U.S. in early 1964 and guys started wearing their hair longer. Girls wore theirs long too. Long and straight, parted down the middle. That look was my all time favorite on girls/women.
In the mid to late 70's, disco was in and guys and gals both went curly. Perms were very popular.
After my divorce in the mid 80's, I went from curly and long to short and straight. Mother Nature was the leading reason, because my hair was disappearing fast.
Now I own my own clippers and give myself a trim once a month. I've matured to the point that I don't care so much about my hair line, so long as I keep my hair neat and clean.
Would I do something about my baldness if I won the lottery tomorrow? I don't think so. If mega-rich guys like Bill Gates can get laid by hot women, why not me, too?
As all of us hair-challenged guys know... hair today, gone tomorrow.

Tuesday, June 18, 2019, 7:06:03 PM- Truth is stranger than fiction
We have had a lot of rain here in Indiana. People I know have been posting funny pictures on FB of the Loch Ness monster and Shamu swimming in the local river.
All well and good, but on the local weather I heard that we here have only had three weekends this YEAR without either snow or rain so far.
Dwell on that for a moment, then help me get started on building this ark.

It is a sorry day indeed, when I am in fourth place on the blog list. If you don't blog every once in a while, you disappear from the list. Well, a lot of you have disappeared.
Sunday, June 16, 2019, 1:03:26 AM- Happy Father's Day
My Dad and I argued a lot. Mom said it was because we were so much alike. We argued over politics (even though we were members of the same political party), sports (although we supported the same teams) and life in general.
All of these years later, since he died 25 years ago, I've come to believe that we weren't all that different in our views. We just grew up at different times, which shaped our outlooks on the world around us. Different generations.
One thing is for certain, though: If one of us was ever hurting or sad or sick, we were always there for each other. I have tried to live my life as he lived his. Honestly, fairly and lovingly.
It's all right to disagree with someone you love. Just make a point of telling them you love them... sometimes between arguments. lol As he lay dying, my last words to him were that I had always loved him. Through his pain, he smiled at me and a tear rolled down his cheek.
Happy Father's Day, Dad. We didn't always see eye to eye, but I still love you with all my heart.

... to be a pepper, too?
Before he was an American Werewolf in London, David Naughton was a pepper:
Be a pepper!

Eating healthy during the week is pretty simple. Get into a routine and stick with it. Rule of thumb: If it tastes good, it probably isn't good for you. If it tastes bad, eat all you want... it IS good for you.
