Remember the following Norse fable the next time you sneak a smooch under the mistletoe: Frigga, goddess of love and beauty, wanted to make the world safe for her son, Balder. Everything on earth promised to do him no harm except the one plant Frigga overlooked, mistletoe. Loki, an evil spirit, made an arrow from the mistletoe's wood and killed Balder. Frigga's tears became the plant's white berries and revived her son. In her gratitude, Frigga promised to kiss anyone who passed under the mistletoe, just as we do today.

my child tax credit came in so i started and finished my xmas shopping (in an hour and a half, new record for me!) only buying for the kids this year, but hey thats ok thats who christmas is for.
it snowed all day today and we are expecting a big storm tonight/tomorrow. total accumulation about 30cms or 12"
so between the snow and getting the shopping out of the way i am finally looking forward to, instead of dreading christmas

being very selfish for the next little while. i have a LOT going on in my life and cant deal with all the little issues you generally bring to me.
sound tough? i really dont think so. i have ALWAYS been there to listen to you, and never really asked anything in return.
well, im not asking for anything now, except understanding that i cant and therefore wont be listening to much other than what i choose to.
when i get my life sorted ill be back to the ju you know (and might love)
until then i just need some time.
i am NOT going anywhere, but i am going to use NN for the distraction i need.

got the tree up yesterday, mailed the cards today (hope they all get there in time) and started my first bit of christmas shopping. i will be hitting the stores BIG time this week. i have never been so late getting all this stuff done and im feeling panicky. but at least i have started now.
