Schools are out, graduations mostly done, and the kids are home or you are going visiting or on vacation. Or perhaps even staying home.

Have fun all summer long; and please, be careful and enjoy it.

I do enjoy the blogs and of course, the pictures and stories.

I used to update my blog a lot more, -I've erased a bunch of them- and enjoyed the comments I'd get back.
Usually it is a nice comment, and I only remember biting back a time or two to some that weren't.
Of course it was a smaller community, and I even ventured into the chat section.

Having been here a while, I have noticed a few names that enjoy or at least feel good (or bad enough) to write something in their blogs.
They are male and female; and of course things, funny, good or sad do happen to all of us.
Sometimes these things elicit a feeling or a comment from the rest of us.

So I do sometimes leave a comment on those blogs. They are just friendly comments.
Not trying to say my pants' belt is loose, guys.

And I looked for it again.

Miss the lady. Miss Artistic's Blog.

And of course, her sense of humor.

I need to check in here more often.

We are just enjoying a quiet day after spending Christmas with family.

A Happy Father's Day to all. I am including you ladies because I know a lot of you have pulled or are pulling that duty.

May your supply of extraneous ties remain unseen and the new shirts fit.

As someone mentioned, the most precious gestures and gifts remain the smiles, hugs and love. You know, the things that are done and thought of every day.
We don't have to even mention the memories that come forth when we open that door in our mind nor the sweet hugs we might receive when and if the "young" ones drop by.

One of my favorites memories is coming in from work. I see me looking at that little person, removing the shirt or top cover so as to not scratch him and being covered in coos and smiles then watching him start a nap on your chest and shoulder.
Soon you are also getting a drink of water and laying down on that couch, making him comfortable and safe on the inside and nodding off yourself for a bit.
Heck no, I am not going to tell him about that.
I'll even wait to tell his daughter until she is in turn expecting some years from now. She'll understand that then.

Neither will we ever mention the celebrations missed away from home, so those we made will just make double duty and joy.

Bet we could dump most of those "not your type" ties if we keep just one.
Of course I am keeping that small piece of metal I've carried all these years with the misspelled "Your (sic) the best Dad ever."

That is staying on the key chain till I die.

Hope everyone is enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday, whether alone or in company of loved ones and/or enjoyable people.
Yesterday was spent with stepson and bride coming to see us.
I was not sure at first if they were coming for lunch or just a visit since they would be going to her family's function later.

Turkey is not a big seller in this house, maybe once a decade or so is OK. Unless it's smoked turkey. Then all bets are off.
I served corned beef. OK, maybe not traditional, but probably closer to the real first couple of Thanksgiving feasts.
(Yep, I think we are finding out that in reality we were pumped a lot of bull and myths in school, weren't we? )

The lady here will not eat cabbage. Not desiring to let her sit at the table by herself to punish her for not eating cabbage I made the potatoes and made them look pretty.

No problem, she didn't have the potatoes either. Which meant more for the rest of us.
She rewarded us by making a sour cream pie.
It may sound terrible, but it is a good taste.
One can learn a lot in old age.
