Monday, March 25, 2013, 5:51:06 AM- La nuit - The night
To go along with the song I posted two entries previously, I love the lyrics. The original version in French and translation into English: LA NUIT Si je t’oublie pendant le jour Je passe mes nuits à te maudire Et quand la lune se retire J’ai l’âme vide et le cœur lourd La nuit tu m’apparais immense Je tends les bras pour te saisir Mais tu prends un malin plaisir A te jouer de mes avances La nuit, je deviens fou, je deviens fou Et puis ton rire fend le noir Et je ne sais plus où chercher Quand tout se tait revient l’espoir Et je me reprends à t’aimer Tantôt tu me reviens fugace Et tu m’appelles pour me narguer Et chaque fois mon sang se glace Ton rire vient tout effacer La nuit, je deviens fou, je deviens fou Le jour dissipe ton image Et tu repars je ne sais où Vers celui qui te tient en cage Celui qui va me rendre fou La nuit je deviens fou, je deviens fou AT NIGHT Even if I forget you during the day I spend my nights cursing you And when the moon withdraws My soul is empty and my heart heavy At night, you loom larger than life I reach out to hold you But you delight In jeering at my advances At night, I go crazy, I go crazy And then your laughter tears through the darkness And I don't know where to search anymore When everything falls silent, I feel hopeful again And get caught up in loving you again Then you fleetingly come back to me And you call to taunt me But every time, my blood freezes, Your laughter erases it all At night, I go crazy, I go crazy The daylight dispels your image And you leave again, I don't know where You go to the one who cages you The one who's going to drive me insane At night, I go crazy, I go crazy

I'm assuming winter didn't get the memo that spring has arrived. Snow. Again. If I wanted this much snow, I would have moved to Scandinavia It seems to suit my mood though...

Watching The Voice of Belgium, a rendition of La Nuit, the original being by Adamo, I was impressed by the performance of the two candidates. Blown away. At the same time, the song sounded familiar to me, which is unusual because I don't listen to much French music. So this morning I decided to listen to the original. Not only a great song, but suddenly it hit me why I recognised it. I used to play a CD by Adamo regularly at my grandmother's house, for a particular famous song I wanted to hear, but suddenly I knew that this song must have also been on it. And I felt tears sting in my eyes at this memory, memories are all I have left. I don't usually post music videos, but I'll make an exception... The rendition by two candidates of The Voice: http://www.rtbf.be/video/detail_la-nuit-selon-david-et-cyriaque?id=1807348 And the original, great in its own right. Starting the day with an emotional hangover...

Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 9:39:40 PM- Quirks
So after some girl talk at work, I've discovered that some women find bras very uncomfortable, to the point where the first thing they do when they get home is take it off. My quirk? I don't like go bra-less, the free movement and the sensation of fabric rubbing. I even wear a bra under my pajamas/while sleeping. What about you, do you have any quirky habits, behavior that people around you find strange?

You know when you have a cool idea for a blog... And then you log in, want to start typing and *whoosh* away the idea has flown. Oh well, I guess it'll come back, just like the weekend that slipped through my fingers. I'll just watch the rest of Master Chef and hit the sack

Saturday, March 16, 2013, 6:23:07 PM- saturday
So we didn't spend Saturday hanging out at home as usual, we celebrated our 9 year anniversary. We started with lunch at a posh Greek restaurant, three courses. Some casual shopping in a cook shop and a second hand/antique store, and then we went to the Horta museum. For those who don't know, Horta was a famous Belgian architect in the art nouveau period. The museum is actually the house he built/renovated for himself and his family and it is absolutely gorgeous. We went home afterwards, collecting a few Amazon packages along the way: CDs and books. Before picking up my tablet to write this blog, I was cocooning in the sofa, reading Georges Bataille and listening to cello music. This is how weekends should be...

Standing at the bus stop, I face a setting sun, its heat announcing springtime, and a blue sky surrounds it. When tiny snowflakes start drifting down from the sky, as if by magic, light cool whispers of winter touching my face.

Sunday, March 10, 2013, 11:54:01 AM- Talent
First of all, thanks to all those people who have commented on my blog the past few weeks and months, and who have shown support when it was needed. As for the title of my blog, it's just a thought that pops up sometimes. You'd think that if someone tells you you have talent, it's a good thing, right? I used to think so, and it used to boost my confidence. But as time passes, I find myself resenting this phrase, as it seems to indicate something unfulfilled, something incomplete. You're talented (but you haven't found your own voice yet). You're talented (but you need some formal training). And so forth. Like a rough diamond that still need to be cut. Or a fabric that still needs to be woven. I don't want to be talented, I want to be accomplished. And when rereading this blog, I realise that most of all I want to be able to be confident in my abilities, instead of depending on others for confirmation.
