Jagged_Edges's blog post - Thermal Breakdown

I see this a lot and thought you might like to know....

1 thing I noticed was you had your laptop on a bed in a few pics...not a good idea to leave it there for more than a few minutes...there is a cooling fan underneath that exhausts out the bottom...the lil feet under the laptop help hold it high enough for the exhaust heat to vent out of the sides...a soft surface doesn't allow that and causes thermal breakdown...and will cause your comp to fail...best thing to do is find a piece of wood or a hard surface about the same size or bigger and keep it on that for longevity....

If this is something you tend to do,don't!

A while ago I complained with hubby that my laptop
was really getting slow ... his first question was
"where are you using it" ... I'm not going to give you
the answer Jag ... you know :-) Best of all is, we have
2 laptop stands in the house .... Great advice and
thank you for pointing out a focus point Jag ... xxx

If you only knew the number of people I advise against this when visiting customers. Never place a laptop on any cloth as the fun sucks up the fibres and eventually blocks the air vent. Also do not use a laptop placed on bare legs. Laptop burn is a real condition and medical reports indicate that using a laptop across the legs can indeed cause it. in very rare cases, the condition can cause damage leading to skin cancer. If you Google laptop burn on legs it's not a pretty picture!

Keep that baby propped up off the bed so it can ventilate properly!
