Which one of me am I supposed to describe? "Bipolar? If I could get the voices in my head down to two, I'd be doing great." How about someone describe me to me instead?

Friday, July 26, 2013, 11:35:44 AM- Not sure what kind of omen to take it as...
but I will be receiving my knife in the mail today...and yesterday I bit myself with one of my current knives. I rarely, rarely cut myself with a knife...lots of cuts hitting the edges of various things (the easiest way to cut oneself is cleaning the kitchen I find) but the day before my new knife arrives...bam. Through a bit of finger nail and a small little bit off the end. Yes, I keep 'em sharp!!! So...an omen? Good? Bad? My subconscious saying to me, "You are going to have an even sharper knife...better to cut yourself a little bit now with a not quite as sharp knife to remind yourself that you don't want to be doing that?" Hmmmmm.....hope I don't cut myself while I'm distracted trying to figure out what it all means...

Monday, July 15, 2013, 12:52:26 AM- Back from vacation...
and it was wonderful. Sorry, no pics to post of it. Once upon a time I did a lot of video recording and pictures before those things were quite so simple and cheap...and spent a lot of time on it. Then the decision came, spend time just looking at the world instead of recording it. So that's what I tend to do now. Maybe I'll get to a simple balance one day. But a wonderful family vacation. Parents, sister, nephew and My Love. Up at the extended family cottage in Michigan, on a small lake about a mile from Lake Michigan. So beautiful. The cottage was built by my great grandfather and grandfather in the late 1920's. I can't imagine. It isn't too hard to realize that before the age of instant entertainment everywhere and things to do things for us all the time, people were more industrious and versed in common skills than we (or at least I) am today. Interesting to view the power of sentiment. Just the memories with Granpa and Granny there...wonderful people. I have truly been blessed with a wonderful family, full of good will for all. But then looking at how I do think of the "good old days" when there. There are probably triple the number of piers and boats on the lake that there used to be when I was young...and such a greater percentage of them being power boats. The stillness of the early morning and late night sitting by the lake when the noisy ones have retired is such a precious thing to me. Those moments when we are truly away from the continual sounds of modern society and hear the songs of nature. So perfectly beautiful and relaxing. Sometimes, when I look at the difference in lifestyles from the 1900's to now the fact that medicating (both through physicians and self medicating) is so prevalent is not surprising to me. The rewards of a simple, quiet life are easy to forget. Anyways, the awareness that there are only so many vacations like this available with my parents has clearly become a larger part of my consciousness. From long living if not exactly hearty people, but age is age. Really had some interesting reflections on generations and "the changing of the guard" at times up there, but nothing to concrete yet. And trying to get each other off with just curtains between the rooms on swinging beds without others being aware...that's a lot of fun... Anyways, hope all have been having fun and spreading love!

Monday, June 3, 2013, 11:30:29 AM- At every moment of every day...
we all have just as much opportunity to enjoy the world equally as much as anyone else. More news about the "top 1-percent" owns X amount of wealth. In meditation yesterday, the whole notion of how delusional the thought of "this is mine" is was prominent. Yes, I have what are termed possessions, but there is nothing inherent to them that ensures that they stay with me. They can be taken, lost, broken, abandoned, etc... There is nothing to them or me that makes it so that they will magically return to me should those things happen. Yet...so much attention placed upon "holding onto" them instead of enjoying them. The world is so full of things that can not be owned, even by the top 1-percent. Sights, smells, tastes, feel, sounds...the best things that the world are made up of, none of which can be owned, all of which can freely be enjoyed. Is there anything I can do that is more selfish than to be out in that world, ignoring the infinite opportunities for enjoyment simply because something isn't truly "mine?" What shall I do today? Shall I enjoy each single moment as much as possible? Shall I be grateful for my opportunity to enjoy everything as much as anyone else can or be envious of other's abilities to delude themselves better that something is "theirs?" Enjoy! Experience the world!

simply mysterious things. Probably the thing I like least about living in WI is how long the trees are barren of their leaves. Half the year with trees without leaves... So inevitably I start watching the trees in the spring and try to catch the process of growth. And every year at some point, I look up and say, "Where did all those leaves come from all of the sudden?" One of these years I swear I am going to catch them. It may have to wait until I don't have to work anymore and can sit and stare at the trees all day long every day, but it will happen.
