With our trip to Mexico looming just around the corner (Saturday morning) it's pretty easy to just say fuck this weather! We're out of here! And I will admit that this trip, hastily planned and booked, seems an ideal way to escape for a few days. But it would have been nicer to leave right after Christmas rather than before.

Everything, shopping etc.. has to been done no later than tomorrow. So we've been rushing around quite a bit. It doesn't even seem like we're going anywhere... Don't worry 'll take a few photos to share....

Thursday, December 18, 2008, 2:15:27 AM- Turning on a dime

Funny how things can change so quickly. My wife really wanted to be out of here at Christmas because she thinks there's going to be an extra dose of drama over at my son's house. What does she do? She books a quick trip to Mexico for us including my daughter and her boyfriend.

We fly out Saturday morning and return late Christmas eve. In a way I'm not looking forward to going. On the other hand it might actually be fun. My daughter is a real hoot!

Then again I'll be missing everyone here moving toward Christmas. Better brush up on my Spanish and take some oil to work on that beach while sitting on the beach. It'll be 82 degrees!

That's the noise you make when you're taking out the trash to the street when there's hardened sleet and snow under your feet. Damn! it was cold! It's not at the top of my list of fun chores but it's Tuesday and it has to be done. Pick up is bright and early in the a.m.

Sunday, December 14, 2008, 5:44:20 PM- OMG! I've been overloaded at work!

It was inventory time at work. Thursday I worked until 10:00 pm. The real work started Friday through Yesterday. I haven't had time to even check my email. Does that tell you anything?

Last night I thought of something that might be fun for my wife and daughter and I made the mistake of telling them. "Let's go ice skating at night out at the park", It was windy as hell with the approaching winter storm on the way. I must have forgotten how to skate. I showed a complete inability to skate without looking like I rode on the short bus. However, everyone seemed to have a good time making fun of me.

Tonight we have the company Christmas party. It's not like I haven't seen these people lately. But it's free food and we are exchanging goofy gifts. I doubt if I'll get one of these...

Wednesday, December 10, 2008, 12:37:23 AM- Best made plans down the drain in a flash

I had some very sweet plans for tomorrow but one quick phone call changed everything. My son's marriage finally crashed and he's on the way here. A drama played out over & over and I just want it to end.

My wife & I have nearly gotten used to it. Our threshold is way up there so we are nearly not moved by it all. But now we must play the parents and be there to help pick the pieces I suppose. It sounds cold on our part but that's how we feel.

Meanwhile our own lives are on hold or maybe in storage might be the best description. We don't want to hear about who said what to whom etc... we just want it to end. We've got our own lives to live.

I should have told you this story a few days ago when it happen but I just forgot.

My daughter went to a Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed in her car. She sat in the waiting room and a few minutes later a service tech came in and asked if she had hit a deer any time lately. She hadn't. Then she was told they found a deer's head under the engine compartment. This was really gross thinking it was hung up under there all this time.

A few weeks ago she had driven down to Oklahoma for a Coldplay concert & thought she might have hit some debris on the return trip in the middle of the night. She stopped, checked and found nothing... OH SHIT! This story was unbelievable but very true.

On Friday she hit a curb next an exit ramp and bent her alloy wheel. She needs to drive better!

Last night I was asked to watch an old Christmas movie instead of watching the big game on TV. My wife knew I wouldn't enjoy it but I went along to please her instead. It was so boring and if i didn't start drinking heavier during the last portion it would have been worse. But it was nice to see the Christmas tree in the corner. Maybe there is a little Christmas spirit beginning to creep in our lives.

My daughter stayed the night & that was OK. Yesterday they bought her wedding dress but they wouldn't say how much it cost. I MEAN they would say! That wasn't the right answer but I kept my cool. What was wrong with the previous dress she wanted? Guess it was what she wanted after all. My little girl is getting married and she still falls asleep watching TV...

Later on I made yet another fatal error while crawling in bed. Yes, I asked my wife if she was interested in a little one on one. No, was the answer then I blew it when I muttered something under my breath. My wife hates me to put any guilt on her.

When I was putting up the Christmas lights outside all sorts of very naughty but seductive thoughts kept running through my mind.

Last night we went out and bought our Christmas tree... It's set up in the living room allowing the limbs to fall freely. This afternoon we'll trim it up right. Also, I've been told I have to put out the exterior Christmas lights. OMG! But it's cold outside.

This morning I woke up to a little snow. Not much but enough to remind us it's winter!

Tonight we did have free tickets to see Leon Russell but those fell through. However, the good news is I'll be able to sit in front of the TV and watch the Oklahoma/Missouri Big 12 Championship game.
