I'm a pretty normal guy that you'd never suspect of being on NN. It's my outlet for everyday life. Love photography and guitars. My voice greeting is a sample of my all original music recorded basement style. I change it from time time. My favorite guitar is my Gibson SG thus my user name was born.

We woke up at 5:15 to get to the polls at 6:00 a.m. Oh man! The line was long and never seemed to move at all. But I did meet a lot of new people while standing that line for 3 HOURS! I sure hope it was worth the effort. Sure it was! So I won't even think about the time spent... standing, waiting.. and waiting!!! It was the right thing to do!

We are a bit frizzled after the big engagement announcement. It was nice such to do something like painting the neighbors fence to wittle way the hours on this beautiful fall afternoon. I wish I had something more exciting to talk about but I truly don't. However that in itself is OK for me.. today!

Mt daughter got engaged Friday night and wedding plans are been discussed. Guys! Just hand on because we get almost no say so in these planning effects. Not a penny has been spent but I feel like my pockets are being picked clean. I had a high figure stuck in my head as the worst case scenario but I'm not even close. She's my only daughter daughter and we truly like the man she's marrying. During dinner last night I semi-jokingly said I've give a trip to Hawaii and $10,000 towards a house if they would just elope. The answer was a resounding NO but the cash did catch her attention. OMG! Am I in big trouble. This wedding is going to really hurt the savings account in a big way. A dinner reception for how many? He's got over 80 relatives alone living in this city. Throw in our mini family and friends, co-workers... Yikes!

Last night my daughter got engaged to be married! So it appears we'll be planning yet another marriage in the coming year. Plans are already discussed but it's way too early to even begin to be serious about any of them. OMG! Being the bride's parent who know who'll be paying for this this one! Yikes! But it'll all be quite worth it. Well, now we're off this morning, driving west to visit of son & his new bride. We should be back after dinner sometime. Now we'll have something to talk about!

Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 1:24:26 AM- My own little world
Sometimes it's nice to shut out the entire world behind closed doors and forget about everything. To feel the warmth and touch of another soul smother you with affection. That feeling is absorbed and appreciated in words that can't always be explained. Sometimes it's not needed for your partner already is there at the same exact moment. Exhilaratingly, you just know it's all so right. It should be like this all the time but you know it can not be. You appreciate the moment, the tenderness but it's all so fleeting. Now I've gone & done something really stupid... listen to my voice greeting. Yet another very poor attempt of vocalizing a tune... Called "Take me Away". Guess I was in one of those moods. I must have wrote and recorded it during a period of self pity. Yeah.. that'll work! I'm sticking with that story!

Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 1:10:21 AM- Winter's Arrival
I thought this morning was cool enough but when I stepped outside to drive home from work.. was I surprised to feel something that truly said winter was on the way. We're not talking freezing temperatures but it must have been 40 degrees and dropping. These are the type nights when it feels good to snuggle up under the covers and say.. brrr... time to snuggle!

Sunday, October 26, 2008, 10:06:58 PM- What if the circumstances were different?
Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin, what if things were switched around?Think about it. Would the country's collective point of view be different? Could racism be the culprit? Ponder the following: What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three-month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter? What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee? What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards? What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married? What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to painkillers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.) What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker? What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter? What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes? What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem? What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution? What if the Obamas had adopted a white child? You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference. Educational Background: Barack Obama: Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations. Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude Joseph Biden: University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Vs. John McCain: United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899 Sarah Palin: Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism Education isn't everything, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world. You make the call.

It seems this weekend has been rated completely PG-13 at best. My daughter decided to come over yesterday and hung out with us for the afternoon. We went out the movies and saw "W" which was entertaining but I give it only a few stars in the review column. Afterwards she had dinner with us and decided to stay the night. My wife has this little unwritten rule that nothing happens when any of our kids are in the house. I didn't ask.. she didn't offer so she was happy. Hell, she's not interested anyway so it's been a good weekend for her. This after I'm doing some repair work on the front outdoor railing leading to the door. I really should be starting that job but there is so little precious private time to perve... well, this is it...

Saturday, October 25, 2008, 5:56:44 PM- Saturday Afternoon
It's been a while since I last updated my blog.. My daughter's surgery was a complete success and she's back at home after staying with us since Tuesday. Today the sun is out although it's a bit chilly outside. In a while we're heading out for a long bike ride. Time to pull out the winter wear to keep warm. The bright sun is deceiving! I also uploaded another new song to my voice greeting on my profile. I shouldn't but I do sing a little on this one. Keep in mind that I'm no singer. Just a guitar guy really. But I can't help myself when I've got words running through my head. It's so silly to even try!
