Friday, January 28, 2011, 6:50:04 PM- I am not a great cook
tho I do my best. I have not poisoned us - no maytter what some might think given recent events. One critisism about my cooking is that my roat potatoes are not quit right. Well................problem solved!! I found a tub of duck fat in the supermarket. It even comes with instructions on the tub. The young bloke agrees I have finally got the roast spuds right.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011, 7:01:53 PM- Working at a new site
on the outskirts of Melbourne. They are digging a trench to extend a sewer line. Reasonably large concrete pipes about a meter across on the inside. Problem is that the block in the sewer thet are extending did not work so raw sewerage has come out of the exsisting line. The smell was horrendice. Most of the day was spent with them pumping the sewerage out and fixing the plug up the line. Long day too. 10 Hrs. And working tomorrow ( Aust Day ) public holiday. The boy is out of hospital. He had Selmonella poisoning and so has some tablets to take. Although it was not from me I have bought some dissinfectant and used it liberally about the place. Any way throw a bit of lamb on the barbie and have a great day.

Saturday, January 22, 2011, 4:06:15 AM- Had a job today - saturday
That is great! They are digging a trench to lay sewer pipes and it is very boooooring. To aleviate the boredom I went for a wander. It has been raining here a bit so the groung is a bit slippery. Crust on top with mud underneath. I was being reasonably careful when my foot dissapeared to below the ankle and so did my nerxt step before I realised. It was like quick sand! The more I struggled to get out the deeper I sank. Finally had to get my feet out of the boots and dig the boots out of the mud. Son still in Hospital so it is quiet at home. Off to have a shower and then to the hospital nice and clean.

Friday, January 21, 2011, 12:10:37 AM- Not his appendix after all
After booking the theater time for an operation they did scans and found my young bloke doesn't need his apendix out. He has really bad food poisoning and so he is in isolation and on a drip for rehydration. And before you suggest it - no - it was not my cooking. He had been out to a Mexican restaurant and he/they think that is the cause.

Thursday, January 20, 2011, 3:27:32 AM- My young fella is crook
Had the runs really bad for a few days. Really bad pain in the guts. High temp etc. Finally I took him to the Hospital Emergancy. After quite a few hours wait and me thinking this is probably a waste they saw him. "Lets keep him overnight and have a surgeoun look at him" they suggested. I think he gets his appendix out this afternoon. Just booking the theater. Maybe I not such a bad father after all.

75% of Queensland is flooded. So are parts of NSW, Western Victoria and even Tassie. So what was the Saturday afternoon movie on TV? The Dam Busters. Who makes these decisions?

Thursday, January 6, 2011, 12:23:49 AM- When Love Fades...
Last night I was sitting on the sofa watching TV when I heard my wife's' voice from the kitchen. "What would you like for dinner, my love? Chicken, Beef or Lamb?" I said, "Thank you, I'll have chicken." She replied "You're having soup, arse hole. I was talking to the cat."

Saturday, January 1, 2011, 12:49:21 AM- So 2010 is done and dusted
I am pretty glad to see the back of it in reality. It has been an up and down year over all - actually pretty down really. The year started with me getting a bit of work thankfully, because others were on hollidays but soon work became sporadic. I had an investment property that the bank was putting pressure on me about so I was xxxxxx to sell it and ended up with a fair bit left over. Problem was that it was going to be my superannuation - some where to live in my old age ( which is hurtling towards me ). My company was being wound up by the Tassmanian Govt who wanted money back for work they had part paid but sacked us from 7 - 8 years earlier. Due to cercumstances and finances I was not really able to put my case forward so the comp was wound up and it cost me about $35k. Any way that drama is gone now. I rent and the owner of the property I was in wanted vacant possession so he could fix it up and sell. Unfortunately it was almost impossible to find a place so my son had to stay at a friends of mine and I bunked at a friend of a friends. Finally we found a place and so we moved. Not sure I can really afford it however those that I could afford were not really all that habitable. Not long after moving in my sister rand to say my father was unwell and she had rung an ambulance. She aked to to meet him at the hospital to help him feel a bit more comfortable. He couldn't move about and they couldn't work out why. After doing some scans the found he had a blockage in the artery to the heart and some puss in his stomach. When the opened him up they found he had a burst appendix so they cleaned that up and deciced to do the heart in a few weeks. Sadly Dad never recovered and died a few days later. I am glad he was comfortable and had a dignified death. A bad year got even worse when Collingwood won the premiership in the AFL. The last couple of months I have had a bit of work. Some of it is for a mate of mine so I get paid a discounted rate but that is way better than sitting at home and getting nothing. All through the year I was bouyed by logging in to NN. As a male I obviously enjoy the pics and vids, but I also love the blogs and the chat. I really enjoy the company. So NNers, thanks for helping me through the year and I hope 2011 is a good one for us all, Geoff
